Empowering Education: A Village’s Fight Against School Dropouts"
In a remote village in Bihar’s Darbhanga district, a persistent issue plagued the community: a high school dropout rate among girls due to a lack of proper infrastructure and societal pressures. Families often prioritized early marriages or household chores over education for their daughters.
Determined to break the cycle, a group of young graduates from the same village started a community initiative called "Shiksha Swaraj." They collaborated with local leaders, NGOs, and district officials to address the systemic gaps. They arranged for bicycles for girls to commute to schools safely, set up evening classes for remedial education, and began counseling sessions for families to emphasize the importance of educating girls.
Their efforts gained traction when the community collectively worked to improve the condition of the government school, ensuring proper sanitation facilities and recruiting additional teachers.
