Respected PM sir, To increase its artificial intelligence capabilities in manufacturing, India must move beyond viewing AI as just software and treat it as a structural industrial upgrade. The goal is to transition from "Make in India" (focused on volume and labor) to "Smart Make in India" (focused on efficiency, precision, and value). Create "AI Vouchers" for SMEs: Learning from Germany’s "Mittelstand 4.0", the government should offer "AI adoption vouchers" to MSMEs. These would subsidize the cost of hiring an AI consultant to audit a factory and implement a first pilot project (e.g., a simple camera-based quality check system). State-Level "AI Zones": Just as we have SEZs (Special Economic Zones), India needs "AI Zones" where data regulations are sandboxed to allow for faster training of industrial models. Current Success: Telangana has already started this with its AI framework; Incentivize "Brownfield" Digitization: Most Indian factories are older (brownfield).
