In the old income tax regime, physically challenged persons were provided an exemption of up to ₹1,50,000, which was almost 70% of the existing total exemption amount. However, this benefit is not considered under the new income tax regime. I humbly request the Honorable Prime Minister to please consider this issue and provide at least 80%, or at least ₹25,000 more exemption, under the new regime. Persons with disabilities deserve special consideration, and the government should continue to support them.
SC, ST, BC, and other backward caste persons and their children receive reservations and many exemptions in education, as well as reservations in government jobs. I sincerely request you to please understand the situation of physically challenged persons as well. They also have dreams and aspirations in their lives. Unfortunately, many physically challenged persons do not even get married; a few who do get married deeply love their children but, due to their challenges, are often unable to provide sufficient support for them. There is currently no reservation or special support provided for their children, which is unfair. I humbly request the government to please consider this issue and allocate some budget at least for the education of their children and provide reservation benefits for them.
