Goods and Services Tax Network (GSTN) is a non-profit company setup by Government of India, State governments and financial institutions to provide IT infrastructure and services to the Central and State governments, tax payers and other stakeholders for implementation of proposed Goods and Services Tax (GST).

GST would be a broad-based, comprehensive, single indirect tax which will be levied concurrently on goods and services across India. It will replace Value added Tax (VAT), Excise Duty, Service Tax, Central Sales Tax, Additional Customs Duty, Special Additional Duty of Customsand several other indirect taxes. Introduction of GSTin India is perceived to be the most ambitious initiative in the arena of indirect tax reform. It would change the Indian tax structure and pave the way for modernization of tax administration.  It will simplify the indirect tax regime, making the whole country a single market.

Objectives of GSTN

The GSTN is mandatedto provide following broad services in GST regime:

1.    Provide common online Registration, Return filling and e-Payment servicesforapproximately 60 lakh tax payers;
2.    Build efficient, convenient and user-friendly online interface for the tax payers;
3.    Ensure integration of the Common GST Portal with existing tax administration systems of Central/ State Governments and other stake holders;
4.    Carry out research, study and implement best practices and provide training to the stakeholders

Entries are invited for the contest of designing a logo and defining a tagline for GSTN.

The winning entry will be awarded as under:

a. Logo- Rs. 50,000/-

b. Tag Line- Rs. 50,000/-

The last date of submission is 18th December, 2014.

SIR-logo me orange & green pe N hai jo network & nation mean korta.G =good aur es ko bara kiya is ki upar kuch likh sekhta hu.Blue color me .services aur tax jo jam karta aur office ke dekhaya hu.

I suggest the Tag-line along with possible Logo I have in mind, as I'm not good at Photoshop. I suggest BANIYAN tree as symbolizing the network. In Hindi it is called AKSHAYA VAT. [ One that not shrink/ get minimized/ reduced BUT GROWS for ever and ever. Let the net grow and so too the Govt's kitty without any reduction for eternity [ AKSHAYA]

Inspired by the anchor symbol meaning( fix firm and stable) , I thought this would be apt for GSTN,an ambitious initiative which will firmly fix and replace indirect taxes and can create a stable Indian market. The two arrows also symbolizes combing the goods and services into one which also improves our tax revenue..
