"The City of Lakes" Bhopal, has been shortlisted as an aspirant in the smart cities challenge by Ministry of Urban Development. The City is preparing a Smart City Proposal (SCP) that will include smart city solutions and an outline of the consultations held with the city residents and other stakeholders.

Municipal Corporation of Bhopal hereby invites for suggestions from citizens of Bhopal for making Bhopal " A smart city’. The residents may post their view pertaining to municipal and city services such as water supply, electricity supply, transport, health and educational facilities and city surveillance among others. Residents are encouraged to write the pain areas of the city as well as improvements they’d like to see for making Bhopal a model smart city.

An "Essay – Competition" has also been held for the same & Citizens of Bhopal are invited
to participate in this competition.

The administration will take help from the selected entries to develop a vision statement for the city and will also define city sub goals based on it.

Topic of essay competition:

• "Mere Sapnon Ka Bhopal" (Hindi),

• Bhopal of My Dreams (English)

The essay should be based on and cover the topics of Area based approach, pan-city initiative and the 24 features of the smart city as mentioned by the government in the guidelines.

The role of citizens in making the city a smart city.

This essay should also focus on the issues faced by the residents of the city, and the likely smart solutions which can address these issues.

The participants should focus on the practical, bankable & implementable ideas/solutions related to Smart City only which should match the context of Bhopal city.

Format: The Essay is to be submitted by attaching PDF file online only at www.mygov.in. No other medium of submission should be accepted.

Language: Citizens of Bhopal can submit their essay in – English or Hindi.

Maximum word limit: 1000 words

Last date of submission is 30th October, 2015.

Parameter of Judgement

1. The winner shall be chosen on the basis of originality of Ideas, Vision, Innovativeness and Creativity.
2. The focus on the practical, bankable & implementable ideas/solutions related to Smart City
3. The focus on the role of citizen in the process of making the city smart.
4. How well the topics of Area based approach, pan-city initiative and the 24 features of the smart city according to guidelines provided are covered in the essay.

All the participants must clearly mention following details along with their essay:

3. Address
4. Age
5. Contact number

Terms and Conditions

1. No government official working under Bhopal Municipal Corporation can participate in this Essay-Competition.
2. Entry is limited to one per person. Only individual entries will be accepted. Team entries will not be accepted.
3. The decision of BMC (BHOPAL Municipal Corporation) for selecting the winner shall be treated as final. No plagiarism will be allowed.
4. BMC reserves the right to cancel or amend all or any part of the competition and/or the terms/condition without notice.

भोपाल को स्मार्ट सिटी बनाने के लिए सबसे पहले भोपाल के करीबी गाँवों का विकास होना चाहिए।परिवहन की अच्छी व्यवस्था होनी चाहिए। भोपाल को स्मार्ट सिटी बनाने के लिए हर चौराहे पर सी सी टी वी कैमरा और रोड लाईट होना चाहिये ।भोपाल को स्मार्ट सिटी बनाने के लिए सबसे पहले झीलों की सफाई पर विशेष ध्यान देना चाहिए एवं पेड़-पौधों की देखरेख होनी चाहिए कानून की व्यवस्था को और भी कडा एवं सख्त होना चाहिए। जिससे बच्चो एवं महिलाओं को परेशानी न हो। सरकारी अस्पतालों में सफाई की उत्तम व्यवस्था होनी चाहिए।

एक शहर जहां की जलवायु शुद्ध हो लोग खुली हवा में सांस ले सकें। बिजली-पानी की सप्लाई 24 घंटे सुचारू हो। बिजली कटौती कतई न हो। दिनभर लोगों को ट्रैफिक में न जूझना पड़े, सार्वजनिक यातायात उपलब्ध हो जो विश्व स्तरीय हों।

Why can't be these offices make energy efficient by the use of roof top solar plants which will reduce power crisis can be used by Schools(Govt as well as private),Hospitals,Doctor's, clinics,Shopping Malls,Cinema Halls,Govt offices like Cantonment Areas,Railway stations,Metro Stations etcWe all are notice that in every city many of Houses are need to be re constructed because Level of road are getting high home

भोपाल शहर एक अच्छी स्मार्ट सिटी बनाने के लिये सबसे जरूरी शहर की साफ सफाई पर विशेष ध्यान देना चाहिए शहर की जनता को चाहिए की शहर में जगह जगह कचरा ना करे पान, बिर्डी, सिगरेट, खाने वालो पर सरकार को जुमाना लगाना चाहिए ताकि वे सावजनिक स्थान पर कचरा नही फेंके दुकानदारो का सडक पर कचरा नही करना चाहिए ठेला वालो को भी चाहिए वे सडक फुटपाथो पर कचरा नही डालना चाहिए भोपाल सिटी को स्मार्ट सिटी बनाने के लिए सभी शहर वासियो को सरकार का सहयोग करना चाहिए...

In my view the bhopal city will become smart city when every single person is properly takes all the facilities likes water, electricity and education, etc. The roads of bhopal is not so good so i want that every road on every street must be clean and good for travelling .Because the roads are full of pit which is sometime become the reason of accidents. So first work for smart city is to maintains the roads first. And parking facility must be provided in every area where lots of peoples travel.

I believe there is a better way to build smart cities than to simply call in the engineers. We need to lift up the civic leaders who would show us a different way. We need to empower ourselves to build future cities organically, from the bottom up, and do it in time to save ourselves from climate change. If that seems an insurmountable goal, don’t forget that at the end of the day the smartest city in the world is the one you live in. If that’s not worth fighting for, I don’t know what is.

स्मार्ट सिटी के लिए शहर में बिजली के ग्रिड से लेकर सीवर पाइप सब कुछ अच्छे नेटवर्क में हों।सड़कें, कारें और इमारतें हर चीज़ एक एक नेटवर्क से जुड़ी हों।सड़कों और नालों से अतिक्रमण हटे ताकि सड़के खुलि चोड़ी दिखें जिन को हटाया गया है उनका रोज़गार प्रभावित ना हो जिसके लिए उनको नगर निगम की ओर से उपलब्ध जगह में दुकाने दी जानी चाहीए।शहर में बिजली के ग्रिड सेलेकर सीवर पाइप सब कुछ अच्छे नेटवर्क में हों।सड़कें, कारें और इमारतें हर चीज़ एक एक नेटवर्क से जुड़ी हों।भोपाल को स्वच्छ और साफ बनाना चाहिये।

When people talk about smart cities, they often cast a wide net that pulls in every new public-service innovation from bike sharing to pop-up parks. The broad view is important, since cities must be viewed holistically. Simply installing some new technology, no matter how elegant or powerful, cannot solve a city’s problems in isolation. Smart City Bhopal under the citizens should be provided with an e-card feature whereby citizens through an e-card to their Building, Water Tax, Savor- tax, electricity bills and ration cards and The names of all members present in the same house and the base number or PAN card or voter ID number must be entered .. By mid-day the citizens of the e-card in one place to make it through their entire payment in cash or Electronic and many places to wander and their time will not be saved.
