"The City of Lakes" Bhopal, has been shortlisted as an aspirant in the smart cities challenge by Ministry of Urban Development. The City is preparing a Smart City Proposal (SCP) that will include smart city solutions and an outline of the consultations held with the city residents and other stakeholders.

Municipal Corporation of Bhopal hereby invites for suggestions from citizens of Bhopal for making Bhopal " A smart city’. The residents may post their view pertaining to municipal and city services such as water supply, electricity supply, transport, health and educational facilities and city surveillance among others. Residents are encouraged to write the pain areas of the city as well as improvements they’d like to see for making Bhopal a model smart city.

An "Essay – Competition" has also been held for the same & Citizens of Bhopal are invited
to participate in this competition.

The administration will take help from the selected entries to develop a vision statement for the city and will also define city sub goals based on it.

Topic of essay competition:

• "Mere Sapnon Ka Bhopal" (Hindi),

• Bhopal of My Dreams (English)

The essay should be based on and cover the topics of Area based approach, pan-city initiative and the 24 features of the smart city as mentioned by the government in the guidelines.

The role of citizens in making the city a smart city.

This essay should also focus on the issues faced by the residents of the city, and the likely smart solutions which can address these issues.

The participants should focus on the practical, bankable & implementable ideas/solutions related to Smart City only which should match the context of Bhopal city.

Format: The Essay is to be submitted by attaching PDF file online only at www.mygov.in. No other medium of submission should be accepted.

Language: Citizens of Bhopal can submit their essay in – English or Hindi.

Maximum word limit: 1000 words

Last date of submission is 30th October, 2015.

Parameter of Judgement

1. The winner shall be chosen on the basis of originality of Ideas, Vision, Innovativeness and Creativity.
2. The focus on the practical, bankable & implementable ideas/solutions related to Smart City
3. The focus on the role of citizen in the process of making the city smart.
4. How well the topics of Area based approach, pan-city initiative and the 24 features of the smart city according to guidelines provided are covered in the essay.

All the participants must clearly mention following details along with their essay:

4. Age
5. Contact number

Terms and Conditions

1. No government official working under Bhopal Municipal Corporation can participate in this Essay-Competition.
2. Entry is limited to one per person. Only individual entries will be accepted. Team entries will not be accepted.
3. The decision of BMC (BHOPAL Municipal Corporation) for selecting the winner shall be treated as final. No plagiarism will be allowed.
4. BMC reserves the right to cancel or amend all or any part of the competition and/or the terms/condition without notice.

It is assumed that whoever is participating in the competition has fully understood the general information and terms-conditions given hereby.

1) Adequate water supply city would include. 2) Assured electricity supply 3) Sanitation including solid waste 4) Efficient urban mobility and public transport by matro train 5) Affordable housing especially for the poor 6) Robust IT connectivity and digitalization. 7) Good governance, especiallye e-governance and citizen participation ,sustainable environment.

new bhopal ki tarhan he old bhopal ko bhi main bhi sabhi yojnao ko lago karna chahiye,aur old bhopal ke rode kafi kharab hain yahan ke rode pae vishesh dhiyaan diya jana chahaiye,,,bhopal ki purani imarto ko sanrakshit kar ke pariyatan ko bdawa diya ja sakta hai,,jahangirab bad,shajanabad old bhopal ke in ilaqo main sadko ko coda kia jana chahiye...

हमारे शहर भोपाल की भी कुछ अलग पहचान है, जैसे सांस्कृतिक विरासत, प्राकृतिक सौंदर्य, स्थानीय रीति-रिवाज आदि । हमारे शहर का अद्भुत प्राकृतिक सौंदर्य है, चाहे मनुआभान टेकरी को देखिये या शहर की झीलों या पहाड़ियों को इस शहर की पहचान है । अगर रीति रिवाजों की बात करें तो हमारी गंगा-जमुनी तहजीब ही हमारी पहचान है। इसी तरह हमारा शहर अपनी सांस्कृतिक और पुरातात्विक विरासत को लगातार सहेजे हुए है। उसे स्मार्ट सिटी में सजाया संवारा जाये ताकि हमारी धरोहर संरक्षित रह सके ।

"स्मार्ट शहर के चयन प्रक्रिया में सबके विचारों की अभिव्यक्ति कुछ अलग अन्दाज में होती है। इस तथ्य को हम कैसे अनदेखा कर सकते है कि हर व्यक्ति का एक सपना होता है कि उनके अपने शहर जहॉ पर वह निवास करते है वह स्मार्ट सिटी कहलाये।एक स्मार्ट सिटी में सभी लोगों की मूलभूत आवश्यकतॉए भी कुछ अलग अन्दाज में होती है जो उनके अनुसार आवश्यकताओ को दर्शाती है। वही उन लोगो का चयन भी कहा जा सकता है। स्मार्ट सिटी के बारे में जैसेः- 1.जीवन मे अनुशासन और प्रगति की और 2.शिक्षा ओर मनोरंजन के क्षेत्र में पूर्ण विकास

BMC should also conduct regular audits of stateowned busesused in local transport for their good condition and driver & conductors shall be held responsible for any irregularities. Drivers and conductors shall be provided with adequate training to deal with public. Guards should be recruited in city buses in order to keep an eye on antisocial elements in bus and assist driver and conductor when needed.

भोपाल शहर में खेल मैदान पूर्व से ही नहीं है। पुराने शहर में बाबे आली मैदान के आलावा कोई मैदान नहीं है। हाॅकी के लिये भी ऐशबाग स्टेडियम है। किन्तु और कोई भी मैदान की व्यवस्था नहीं है। अन्तर्राष्ट्रीय स्तर के मैदान तो एक भी नहीं बना है। जबकि भोपाल को हाॅकी के नाम से पहचाना जाता था। खेल मैदान की कमी के कारण यहां की हाॅकी भी बस समाप्ति की ओर ही है। आवश्यक है कि खेल मैदानों के विकास के साथ साथ नये खेल मैदानों की स्थापना की जाये।

All the areas should have facility for all types of underground system including water lines, electricity, UGD, telephone, CCTV, etc. New areas to be developed should also have provision for the above said, including the plantation of trees in a systematic manner with gardens, provision for seprate market place, hospitals, banks and also the CCTV cameras for police Surveilance for the entire city. Modern bus facilities for local movements with frequent availability etc.

भोपाल के चहुमुखी विकास के लिए हरियाली और रमणिक स्थल को भी विकास मे शामिल करना चाहिए जो भोपाल के विकास के साथ साथ प्रदुषण को भी कम कर सकते है। हरा भरा भोपाल, झीलों का शहर भोपाल। जैसा कि सब जानते है हमारा भोपाल हरियाली और सुन्दरता में किसी शहर से पिछडा नही है। और जैसा कि यह शहर नबाबों का शहर कहा जाता है जिसने गैस त्रासदी को भी झेला है अतः मेरे विचार से हरियाली से कोई समझोता नही होना चाहिए, पर्यटन स्थल के रूप मे विकसित करना चाहिए और भोपाल में हर किलोमीटर पर एक पार्क होना चाहिए भोपाल सुन्दर दिखे।

As the name denotes, economic cities mainly performed economic functions. Pirenne calls them ‘flemish’ type of cities. These cities were commercial centres, where agricultural produce, artifacts, handicrafts material, non-agricultural articles and other finished consumer goods were traded.

भोपाल शहर में गंदगी की समस्या पिछले कई वर्षो से समाप्त नहीं हो पाई है। व्यस्तम बाजरों छोटी नालियों, सीवेज सिस्टम सहीं होने के साथ साथ बारिश के पानी के निकास की उचित व्यवस्था नहीं होने से कीचड़ गंदगी का अंबार रहता है। यह उचित होगा कि स्मार्ट सिटी की योजना बनाते समय नाले एवं नालियों की समस्या को प्राथमिकता देकर उनका आधुनिक प्लान तैयार किया जाये। और स्थायी समाधान निकाला जाकर उनकी ऐसी व्यवस्था की जाये कि नाले एवं नालियों की समस्या अगले 50 वर्ष तक सामने नहीं आ पाये।
