"The City of Lakes" Bhopal, has been shortlisted as an aspirant in the smart cities challenge by Ministry of Urban Development. The City is preparing a Smart City Proposal (SCP) that will include smart city solutions and an outline of the consultations held with the city residents and other stakeholders.

Municipal Corporation of Bhopal hereby invites for suggestions from citizens of Bhopal for making Bhopal " A smart city’. The residents may post their view pertaining to municipal and city services such as water supply, electricity supply, transport, health and educational facilities and city surveillance among others. Residents are encouraged to write the pain areas of the city as well as improvements they’d like to see for making Bhopal a model smart city.

An "Essay – Competition" has also been held for the same & Citizens of Bhopal are invited
to participate in this competition.

The administration will take help from the selected entries to develop a vision statement for the city and will also define city sub goals based on it.

Topic of essay competition:

• "Mere Sapnon Ka Bhopal" (Hindi),

• Bhopal of My Dreams (English)

The essay should be based on and cover the topics of Area based approach, pan-city initiative and the 24 features of the smart city as mentioned by the government in the guidelines.

The role of citizens in making the city a smart city.

This essay should also focus on the issues faced by the residents of the city, and the likely smart solutions which can address these issues.

The participants should focus on the practical, bankable & implementable ideas/solutions related to Smart City only which should match the context of Bhopal city.

Format: The Essay is to be submitted by attaching PDF file online only at www.mygov.in. No other medium of submission should be accepted.

Language: Citizens of Bhopal can submit their essay in – English or Hindi.

Maximum word limit: 1000 words

Last date of submission is 30th October, 2015.

Parameter of Judgement

1. The winner shall be chosen on the basis of originality of Ideas, Vision, Innovativeness and Creativity.
2. The focus on the practical, bankable & implementable ideas/solutions related to Smart City
3. The focus on the role of citizen in the process of making the city smart.
4. How well the topics of Area based approach, pan-city initiative and the 24 features of the smart city according to guidelines provided are covered in the essay.

Terms and Conditions

1. No government official working under Bhopal Municipal Corporation can participate in this Essay-Competition.
2. Entry is limited to one per person. Only individual entries will be accepted. Team entries will not be accepted.
3. The decision of BMC (BHOPAL Municipal Corporation) for selecting the winner shall be treated as final. No plagiarism will be allowed.
4. BMC reserves the right to cancel or amend all or any part of the competition and/or the terms/condition without notice.
