LED must be promoted but disposal of CFLs must also be done properly through initiatives by gov't. CFL disposal is very harmful, it has MERCURY.

Replace the street lights with LED lights & put up advertisements on the poles which stays permanently,it may be stickers or boards. The LED companies could be allowed to do that in collaboration with GOV'T,having a mention on Ads. Gov't could provide subsidy to LED companies for ADs. All state gov't would collaborate with companies & provide LEDs at economic rates. LED us a great concept. Agg marketing could be done by Gov't.

repeat of earlier post ..contd..While buying non-branded led lights, please ensure that you buy the brightest lights for the same wattage, by paying a few rupees more. The rates in my last post are retail, not wholesale. Residents of small towns can buy them thru online outlets for slightly more from comfort of their homes. Be sure to compare online costs from different vendors though.

repeat of earlier post (why are people raising bogey of high cost of LED?) is a myth that LED lights are expensive. Yes,corporates are exploiting brand value to charge astronomical prices. If you buy led bulbs at, say,Bhagirath place,Delhi, Burra bazaar, Kolkata and so on, you should get them from 35/- rs per bulb of 3 watts (suitable for bath, store, verandah, pooja rooms. Bulbs of 9-12 watts cost less than Rs 100/- Nothing fancy, but I have been using them for 2 years without any problems.

The houses which availed financial aid in Chief Minister's Solar powered green house scheme In TN could be mandated to move to the LED lights. And only LED lights should be advised to be used in these houses.

First of all the LED lights be adopted by all government offices. 2. There must be a strict audit of installation of LED lights. 3. All PSU banks, insurance companies be instructed to adopt LED lights. 4. All LED manufacturers be incentivized.
