Section 161 of Railway act indicates “If any person driving or leading a vehicle is negligent in crossing an unmanned level crossing, he shall be punishable with imprisonment which may extend to one year.”

Section 131 of the Motor Vehicle Act indicates that “Every driver of a motor vehicle at the approach of any unguarded railway level crossing shall cause the vehicle to stop and the driver of the vehicle shall cause the conductor or cleaner or attendant or any other person in the vehicle to walk up to the level crossing and ensure that no train or trolley is approaching from either side and then pilot the motor vehicle across such level crossing, and where no conductor or cleaner or attendant or any other person is available in the vehicle, the driver of the vehicle shall get down from the vehicle himself to ensure that no train or trolley is approaching from either side before the railway track is crossed”

However due to non-following of relevant rules by the road users, many accidents are occurring resulting in loss of precious life  at unmanned level crossings.

Suggest solutions for reducing accidents at unmanned level crossings.

I live in Renukoot city in Sonebhadra distt, as this place is hub of big industry like HINDALCO,NTPC,LANCO,NCL,Lanco( ...few more) this place still lacks due to poor connectivity with big city.Varanasi is the near by city but we have poor connectivity to it. Despite having potential to boom this place is not demanding as it could have been ,if properly connected.Pls pay attentionattention to such location.

Level crossings-manned or unmanned has to be completely eleminated as you can't have high speed trains and at grade crossings at the same time. I understand this requires huge investments and is not possible to implement immediately. This can be implemented by a combination of CSR funds, state govt and central govt. Also the MPLAD funds may be used. This has to be implemented phase by phase, perhaps each state can choose 5 districts and aim to eleminate level crossings in the next 2 years.

My request is not to introduce new trains in coming budget. Kindly focus on safety and also improvement of service in trains. To increase revenue - we may think of putting advertisement inside coach. Also, how about allowing private operators to run their train at select routes, who may be able to give better service. With this - revenue will be earned and also competition will increase. Also, kindly discontinue giving free passes to MLA, MP and railways employees.Let everyone pay for the service

Current Platform Ticket System must be replaced by Automatic Platform Ticket Machine like ealier we had Weighing machines at Railway Stations. This will reduced load for both railways as well as visitors. It is common in Foreign Countries.

Step 3. If rail track is going through a city then that city's municipal corporation must make a separate budget to build flyover or subways with help of railways (50:50).
