The country is well endowed with many metallic and non-metallic mineral resources. India is a leading player in respect of many non fuel minerals including, iron ore, bauxite, dolomite, lime stone and mica. Mining sector (non-fuel) currently accounts for approx 0.5% of GDP. For accelerated economic growth on sustainable basis, this sector has to grow at a much faster pace to secure a higher percentage in the GDP.

Scientific, sustainable and transparent mining practices require well trained manpower. Skill development not only enhances productivity and safety at work place, but more importantly, it prepares the manpower to adapt to the new state of art technologies. Currently this sector employs around 0.2 Million workforce which is estimated to grow to 0.3 Million in next 10 years.

Apology I couldn't contribute much here during the last one month as all my time is being consumed in fighting a crook builder who is duping people at large; surprisingly, the whole system - politicians, top officers and journalists are turning to protect him and water me down. Only one officer is holding the righteous ground but given the pressures, I don't know for how long will he be able to do so. Sir, I may need your intervention & will come back to you if India starts losing it...

The place where i am posted has a small municipal committee with ten lakh rupees for solid waste mgt whereas approx 1.5 crores are needed for a town of 5000 families. How can solid waste be managed by committee. Can Mr PM do something about it?

i would probably suggest that as far as mining industries are concerned specially in India are different from other countries so as our class room environment is far less applicable to study the actual scenario. the class room skills are not tranferable in this case. because just fact and figures are not enough to grow this industry having so many ups and downs. so sub oriented training is indeed neccessary.
