The country is well endowed with many metallic and non-metallic mineral resources.  India is a leading player in respect of many non fuel minerals including, iron ore, bauxite, dolomite, lime stone and mica.  Mining sector (non-fuel) currently accounts for approx 0.5% of GDP.  For accelerated economic growth on sustainable basis, this sector has to grow at a much faster pace to secure   a higher percentage in the GDP.

Scientific, sustainable and transparent mining practices require well trained manpower.  Skill development not only enhances productivity and safety at work place, but more importantly, it prepares the manpower to adapt to the new state of art technologies. Currently this sector employs around 0.2 Million workforce which is estimated to grow to 0.3 Million in next 10 years.

I would like to discuss about the rickshaw business in Mumbai. 1. They run on CNG gas and thier meter works as per Petrol price. 2. They want to increase the meter price immediately if there is an increase in the petrol price even by 50 paise, but today the petrol price has reduced by more than Rs.10, but there is no information on the reduction of Rickshaw Meter 3. Rickshaw meters are tampered, even the new electronic meters- there is no random check if the meter works as per government standards.

Practical Training has always edge over theory. I myself a Arts Graduate, but after Training and few Diploma in computer, am working pretty well as System Manager in Department of Posts, Govt. of India. Our Dept has hired Infosys & Tcs. But we are not too bad than them. Practical knowledge equiped with creative thinking with the aid of theory which covers latest development in science and requirement of industry, world over, can create geniuses like Edison, Henry Ford, Steve Jobs etc...

In recent Hud Hud Toofan effect in Visakhapatnam district, the government has made all efforts to restore the normalsy. The government has supplied milk, water, rice and vegetables etc., But most of the effected people have still not received any benefit. My sincere suggestion is to supply the materials duly packed and door to door so that If any body doesnt want, the supply team should skip to the next door. The people waited for hours in queue in bright sunshine and some of them could not get
