The country is well endowed with many metallic and non-metallic mineral resources. India is a leading player in respect of many non fuel minerals including, iron ore, bauxite, dolomite, lime stone and mica. Mining sector (non-fuel) currently accounts for approx 0.5% of GDP. For accelerated economic growth on sustainable basis, this sector has to grow at a much faster pace to secure a higher percentage in the GDP.

Scientific, sustainable and transparent mining practices require well trained manpower. Skill development not only enhances productivity and safety at work place, but more importantly, it prepares the manpower to adapt to the new state of art technologies. Currently this sector employs around 0.2 Million workforce which is estimated to grow to 0.3 Million in next 10 years.

Mining sector is quite risky sector. It demands higher level of skill and safety. Good knowledge can save life at critical situations.but unfortunately most of worker are skilled by there experiences. They needed to be trained well before work. It will enhance the professionism and safety. Knowledge is power.

Sir, According to my views both the class room training and field training are important bcz if we depute a person directly in the field then it may become the matter of his safety. So in the given scenario the best example is to create smart class rooms i.e a true copy of the actual field and trained the employees first on this copied structure then i can guarantee at the time when he/she will be in field no body can beat him. This is just my suggestion.

I think practical training is the wholesome training for any field. Yes, basic rule and laws can be learned in a classroom but a person understands and learns everything thoroughly only by first hand experience. Hence, practical training is above all should be given utmost priority.

Mining Industry is the most ignored one in our Country. Safety, Environment, Quality all in jeopardy. Regulatory & Engineering control is required. Too many laws and ministries involved.

On the other hand there should be proper job training in the field. Only professional learning makes the field work easy. In conclusion for a successful sector like Mining needs "professionalism". In other words both a professional training in the class-room atmosphere as well as field training required. Among these i prefer "Professionalism".

Certainly, the Mining sector requires best training both inside the class-room as well as on the field. For any kind of learning there should a proper discipline. The management of our body and mind makes us a successful people. I always prefer the philosophy of "professionalism" whatever it may be. There are tremendous difference in doing ordinarily and professionally. First of all we need to apply this "professionalism for which a degree/diploma is a need. So class room is must for learning.

Absence of recreational facilities like playgrounds in Cities may indirectly compel individuals towards addictions such as drinking or drugs in worst case. People need to spend quality time to recharge themselves and cope up with stress of the professional life.
