The Prime Minister shared a visionary approach to transform the development journey of our villages in the form of the Saansad Adarsh Gram Yojana. The initiative calls upon MPs to select a village in their constituency and make it a Model Village by 2016. Furthermore, the number of model villages should increase as time progresses so that in a decade a large number of villages become Model Villages across India.

The rationale behind a landmark idea such as this is clear- India lives in the villages and India will only progress when our villages progress. Development of villages can happen best when everybody walks shoulder to shoulder and contributes towards the comprehensive development of the village. And who better than the local Members of Parliament to drive this change!

This specially created forum on MyGov invites out of the box ideas on how the Saansad Adarsh Gram Yojana can become the driving force in bringing a qualitative difference in our villages. Lets make the development of our villages a grand mass movement and together create a golden future for rural India.

It is important to create economic activity in village for that digital india with electricity is good thought. Beside this it is important to move headquarters of many PSU to small town. Ex. Bank of baroda is having head office in mumbai rathar than baroda. Since decision maker r seating in metro they won't abel to finance rural india because they have not experience rural india difficulty. Same there is none of bank has headquarters in northeast.

I would like to work on it myself study thoroughly what aspects of a model Village can make it a smart village too.Firstly i have started looking out for such initiatives done here and there in TN.Basically i think we should have self sustaining and clean technologies like Bio gas facilities that shall lessen the burden of IOC and other organisations providing cooking gas.

Large parts of India are blessed with sunshine across 9-10 months. Possibility of village generating its own electricity through Solar Power method, may be on co-operative society / movement (like many sugar factories have come in Maharashtra ) looked at.

Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojna can be an excellent tool to develop smart villages I am already discussing with our MP as to how we must develop a Adarsh Gram which is self dependent and self sufficient in all aspects. The fundamental requirement shall be to provide all infrastructure to the village. a) Bio Gas based power generatiom b) Installation of solar panels on each rooftop c) Construction of toilets d) Proper irrigation e) Rainwater harvesting f) Proper road connectivity g) Internet

SAGY first step- set up a village people led mechanism for all round cleanliness, drainage for sewage, wide roads, systematic parking, domestic gas, solar powered lights, fans. Set up a village fund contributed by villagers to set up these facilities wherever feasible.

Plans similar(not same) to 'Saansad Adarsh Gram Yojana' have been launched before. Why have they failed to generate results? ACCOUNTABILITY. As some one suggested below, launch a website for the yogana and post monthly updates on action taken by each MP. Allow people to respond. A website may not reach everybody, but it will atleast be a start. In fact MPs can learn from each other, If one MP is getting kudos and other is getting blamed he can learn about the other's work online instantly.

Here some input: 1. Publish the list of name of all MP\MLA who have chosen 1 village There should be 1 year deadline. 2.Connect all Villages with Main City by good quality road. 3.Try to generate electricity with solar power/Bio Gas and give preference to local people. 4. Setup 1 ambulance center at least in every 4 KM radius. 5 Connect each village with mobile coverage. 6 Try to setup small industry area in Village called VIA(Village Industry Area). 7. Setup toilet in each house.
