The Prime Minister shared a visionary approach to transform the development journey of our villages in the form of the Saansad Adarsh Gram Yojana. The initiative calls upon MPs to select a village in their constituency and make it a Model Village by 2016. Furthermore, the number of model villages should increase as time progresses so that in a decade a large number of villages become Model Villages across India.

The rationale behind a landmark idea such as this is clear- India lives in the villages and India will only progress when our villages progress. Development of villages can happen best when everybody walks shoulder to shoulder and contributes towards the comprehensive development of the village. And who better than the local Members of Parliament to drive this change!

This specially created forum on MyGov invites out of the box ideas on how the Saansad Adarsh Gram Yojana can become the driving force in bringing a qualitative difference in our villages. Lets make the development of our villages a grand mass movement and together create a golden future for rural India.

Concepts to be compulsorily used in developing a model village: Rain water harvesting/innovative irrigation techniques/Artificial ponds/ state of the art village granary with storage facility for pulses cereals fresh fruits and frozen food produce as well as milk. The granary should be storing the local produce cultivated by the farmers in the village but also ensuring their food security and should be high speed broad band connected to the district granary built on similar lines.

The idea should be to create a self sufficient, agriculture and allied industry based, environmentally sustainable, road connectivity, clean energy driven (on or off the grid) model village of minimum 1000 and maximum 5000 residents with all basic amenities including housing, sanitation, healthcare, education, employment opportunities and social welfare and development parameters set to match or ideally exceed the criteria in a developed country.

While the legal field is viewed only from the perspective of Courts for deciding disputes. Enactment of legislation for the betterment of society is also a daunting task which requires skilled draftsmen with sound legal acumen. These can be done by young law graduates with good command over english language and law. They can be selected through an examination conducted by the UPSC. If the potential of young law graduates under 35 years can be tapped in drafting of law, the nation can progress.
