Specially trained IBS officers would send a +ve signal worldwide.

Dear Sir, I take pleasure to introduce myself as a social entrepreneur working in the field of bamboo handicraft. I have been in this field for the last eleven years. I am a graduate Engineer and started doing things a little differently. As a social entrepreneur I give most priority to employment generation and experimentation with design. This has led to financial hardship from time to time. Assam along with the whole of North East is bestowed with different species of bamboo. 50% of India’s bamboo reserve is in the North East. Bamboo grows faster and can be cut every 3to 4 years thus making it one of the most sustainable resources for the country. In china, Bamboo is a major contributor to the economy and the field is full of activity. The whole activities can be replicated in the North East which has the potential to generate substantial employment and business. In the North East there is a huge potential for mass growth through Bamboo. There is a big demand for small handicraft items in the national and international market. There is a big market for Engineered Bamboo furniture. I strongly believe that we can cater to these markets once we start producing quality products here in North East. For which a vision and a holistic approach is required. Govt. of India has in principle agreed to the hidden potential of Bamboo and termed it as ‘Green Gold’ and declared various Missions like National Bamboo Mission (NBM)and National Mission on Bamboo Application ( NMBA)for the promotion of bamboo. These Missions couldn’t deliver much as they are more interested for the development of their empanelled suppliers of Chinese Machines than the good of the entrepreneur. In National Bamboo mission (NBM), the same thing happened where the interest of the State Forest Minister and the bureaucrats of the State Forest Deptt. is of prime interest rather than the interest of the beneficiaries . The result is as expected - nothing has happened in the actual field. The Corporations created for the development of the craftsmen by linking their products to bigger market like NEHHDC, could not bring any change to the handicraft industry. All the corporations are sick and are not self sufficient to help the craftsmen. This is high time that we act now. I am writing this to you in the hope that you will do some positive work in this field. Your efforts can create substantial employment and business in this part of the country. I am writing to you out of my frustration. We have discussed on this subject in different forums and in front of different Central and State Ministers. Every time we hope that something will happen but nothing happened. I hope that you will look into the matter. I am ready to provide you all the help possible in my capacity. Thanking you. Mr. Nil salunke i agree with you. as you said freshers not getting chance to enter the company bcos they have no experience, solution to this is not surveying unemployment rate, instead make the students aware of this situation and allow them to do internship during their vacation time and after college hour. this way after getting degree they will be experience also.
