The issue of social access and equity are far too complex. While the gaps in average enrolments between disadvantaged groups like SC, ST, Muslims, girls and Children with special needs and the general population have decreased, there is still a considerably large gap in learning levels with historically disadvantaged and economically weaker children having significantly lower learning outcomes. Large and growing learning gaps threaten the equity gains achieved on the enrolment front because children with lower levels of learning are more likely to drop out. We need to examine current interventions in bridging the gender and social gaps and identify focused strategies for effective inclusion.

for the children with disabilities, new and more inclusive policy is needed. only providing free education will not do. firstly, the rules and restrictions are to be changed, which are very discriminating currently. in schools, the teachers should be trained to deal with such children. technology is rapidly developing, but it does not reach the poor. the government officers should be taught to behave nicely with such children and their parents.

An ethical component of education begins at the youngest preschool level with simple things like saying pleas and thank you and goes on to higher level pf post-graduation that considers deeper questions and debates on ethics and morality. ETHICS AND MORALITY MUST BE A PART OF ANY GOOD EDUCATION POLICY.

May I begin my contribution to this group by saying that while education is highly valued by all, many forget that it is a tool that empowers a human to do both good and bad. It is like a sword that in the right hand can save lives and in the wrong one destroy them. Therefore there must be an ethical component at all levels of education

Honored and delighted to be a part of this group because this is where perhaps I can contribute most as an international educationist. I would be delighted to post from my experience from time to time. Thanks for inviting.

Most schools are so text bookish as of now. It's so unfortunate that the students are just memorizing and rewriting in examinations. When they come out, they could not face the real world and thus unable to solve critical issues themselves. Hence the new education policy should aim at improving the self confidence and practical knowledge of the children. Besides it has to make them the responsible citizens.

As an initiative towards ENERGY SAVING i am hereby giving a valuable suggestion. ALL HOUSEHOLDS IN INDIA USING MORE THAN 2 AIR CONDITIONERS should be CHARGED MORE. OPTION-1 LUXURY TAX can be levied. OPTION-2 SEPERATE EB TARIFF SHOULD BE CHARGED and it should be obviously higher than the Normal Tariff. I HOPE THIS WILL REDUCE MORE A/C CONSUMPTION and the saved power can be utilised for the poor people.... IN INDIA STILL MANY VILLAGES ARE NOT CONNECTED BY ELECTRICITY....
