In Bhabha Atomic Research centre, Mumbai (White elephant), all bldgs. are located in isolated space . Installation of solar panels above Govt Bldg. is very much feasible. Solar energy can be tapped . This will save electrical Energy & help in energy conservation. (Swyamsevk)

Skill development is needed in making Central Govt & State Govt offices as 100 % paperless. Govt offices generate lot of paper waste. Papers are used ruthlessly .There is less control over usage of papers. In Private organisation, paper are used on both sides & with care . This will reduce paper waste & help in cleanliness / Swacchata in country. This will help in conservation of forest & Energy for paper production. (Swyamsevak)

We should first think about how natural light resource can be used efficiently. This should be considered as one of the point of vision while constructing building.

Use less glass on the outer surface of buildings as glass leads to creation of a green house. Most of our country receives a lot of sun during the day. Building norms should be such to discourage use of glass exteriors as they increase air conditioning requirements.

Solar PV panels is a costly proposal. I have developed a new Technic which covers the roof with solar thermal collectors. the collected heat will drive the heat motor and will turn the heat pump. the heat pump will cool the water, which will be used to air cool the building. more the sunlight more the cooling. Alternately it can run on the Biogas produced from the garbage of the premises. this Technic is five time cheaper than Solar electricity based air conditioning system. it's Eco friendly.

Switching to renewable resources of energy can be the most effective conservation of energy policy. We have known about bio gas as replacement of LPG or Coal in rural or semi urban places. Distribution through pipelines are common. so having this bio gas distribution system in Urban or Mid Urban sectors of India is a matter subject to money and process hazards. A organization started bottling bio gas and supply that to families of members in the organization. We need more of these initiatives.

A/C are to be used based on ambient outside temperature. Use a thermostate so that the A/C would not start till temp reaches above 28 C (example). Use of fans in addition of A/C - reduces load from A/C. Make building more air-tight - specially during hot / cold days.
