Several studies have shown that school children do not seem to acquire age appropriate skills in reading, writing and numeracy. There is a need to explore the various approaches to improve teaching–learning at the elementary stage. The objective of this theme is to understand the issues of low learning achievement levels in elementary schooling, assess the system of Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation and suggest ways and methods of improving the learning outcomes of school children which would result in enhancing the quality of elementary education.

Govt is giving money to every chiildren but they didnt cone to scgool. They just come to school on admission day because their oarents know we can not cut off their name. Later they come to school when money is been distributed.. this system is exactly wrong... there us one solution. Moneu to be given to the students whose attendence percentage is greater than 85%.. then every students will come to school and learn as well. Which every governmnt need. Its young generation to be well educated...

I m a teacher myself. So in my notion,problems being faced by teachers are- Lack of clerical staff even everywork we has to do... then how should we do both works on same time.teaching students and doing ckerical as well. moreover there is lack of infrastructure which is must needed thing in this era. We have to pass every student though they didn't get passed..... why are you collecting such illiterate people only passed on documents???? Actually now a days we require high mental level..

Basic life skills like tying shoe laces, tie and buttoning shirts all of these are taught in montessori schools in bangalore. They allow child to experiment with water, oil , sand etc. Only by touching and feeling they will understand nature.Children will not understand about animals by reading in books, they have to see them for real. Some children in cities think that milk comes in the packets from some machine, they don't even know it is coming from cows. Is this what we want to teach

Montessori method is the ideal method for elementary education as it focuses on learning by doing rather than memorizing. I have put my children in such schools and they are able to do a lot better than other normal school children. Also we should eliminate exams upto 4th standard in all schools. Teacher should monitor each activities and mark each children as learner or expert in that activity

In the wave of modernity of modern languages many of the tribal languages and their scripts are are i verge of extinction.These languages & scripts are being used for deciphering scripts in harappan civilization and many other old scripts. I want tribal languages (mostly austro-asian language family) with their scripts must be taught at elementary school up to 5th or 8th in tribal belt of india in govt school.As many tribal people also forgetting their languages.

Many school are good but if a child is not doing good they send the child to other school. In those schools, teachers are not interested to teach, the way teachers will start subject will make boring for students. So please make virtual class room available for each and every child so that if a child could not study in one year, will get equal opportunity in next year to improve.

At primary level, Indian model must be followed. Let's teach children NOT A for apple, but A for Andaman .... and so on. Let's Indianize education. Enough of 67 years of blind imitation! Teachers must innovate to make learning interesting.

Old method of classroom teaching based on chalk and talk must be replaced by colorful CD/DVD programs. Teachers should explain and repeat what children fail to grasp. Listening to good voice/pronunciation will help students speak well. Now with digital tech available easily, we must use them in teaching children. Solar power can help where there's no electricity.

For India to grow, the young Indians should be taught all basic skills well in their childhood. A set of essential skills may be listed. Let the student undergo a test(written/oral) for each of these skills. Please stop auto-promotion. Class 4, Class 7, Class 10, Class 12 can be classified based on the kind of skills that is expected. More importantly, we should stop any test that needs memorization. (Ohm has already stated the law. our kids dont have to state it again)
