Several studies have shown that school children do not seem to acquire age appropriate skills in reading, writing and numeracy. There is a need to explore the various approaches to improve teaching–learning at the elementary stage. The objective of this theme is to understand the issues of low learning achievement levels in elementary schooling, assess the system of Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation and suggest ways and methods of improving the learning outcomes of school children which would result in enhancing the quality of elementary education.

India is a diverse country and it is strong lies in its diversity. Every child should be taught in hi/her own mother tongue and then gradually other languages. Every community as its own beliefs which should be respected rather than being taught to be dismissive. The grades or marks it all means only one thing how much the kid can recall rather than what he has understood and to what capacity.

please introduce moral, ethical story, our ancestors, freedom fighters, great warrior pride story , and minimize the invaders shameful story which r not our pride! let be informed our next generation that we belong to great cultures and we had our own pride story! implement Vedic type of education system removing maculays (british conspiracy)education! correct our history with real story, give respect to our freedom fighter, announce them 'shahid', , till date they r being called as 'extremist'

please remove grade system and resume mark system only as grade system is not helping students, it is spoiling them, thrusting them out of real competition as they r mentally not being prepared, average students r suffering while aware students r taking the benefits! while in admission or interview, the school or admin see only marks, not grade, then why this drama of grade system? moreover, there is division system was already there earlier, so what was problem with it? congress started it to s

4. EXAMS - Please evaluate and rate not only the child. But also the parents and the teacher. Give a score for each school and publish it in Government portal. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE.

3. Moral Science - Please have exams & scores for community services rendered to inculcate humanity, for being truthful at all times. AND FOR BOYS, coach them on how to treat girls with respect and not to physically insult them when they grow old. For Girls, teach that beauty is shortlived and that Confidence, Hygiene, Self Defense are long lived.

2. Physics/Chemistry/Botany/Zoology - TOOO MUCH OF INFORMATION. Eg: Its enough if kids learn about 2-3 floral formula. Instead, an entire genus's floral formula is included in the syllabus. Similarly in physics, Atomic physics, Nuclear Physics, Magnetism, Electricity...so much of knowledge is loaded. Instead explain the relevance between key areas of physics and give numerical problems and lab experiments.

1. Mathematics - Instead of teaching a bit of Arithmetic, Algebra, Geometry within one academic year, focus on each area and get in depth over 2-3 years of academic calendar. Right brained children are really good at drawing and will pickup some areas of mathematics like Geometry easily and take time to learn Algebra. If both topics are covered in each year, consistently the child will learn only one part and score 50% and loose the interest in learning maths totally.

I agree the tilt will apparently look like projecting good about Hinduism and cause problem because somehow it has become a culture that is anything good is said of Hinduism, it will automatically mean putting others down. But this is only a myth which will go away if we persist. Only take care to be factual. There is no dearth of material to tell the truth with authentic references. We should not worry about the transition. Pride in nation is prerequisite for a strong India.

Teach about the patriotic and saintly Mulims and Good work done by Christian leaders in India. Let them know both. India is the only place where Islam can have some chance of being reformed. If there is one place a refreshing Islam can emerge it will be only India. That will happen only if we don't beat around the bush. Transition will always be turbulent but once we cross the hurdle India will be a changed country.
