Several studies have shown that school children do not seem to acquire age appropriate skills in reading, writing and numeracy. There is a need to explore the various approaches to improve teaching–learning at the elementary stage. The objective of this theme is to understand the issues of low learning achievement levels in elementary schooling, assess the system of Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation and suggest ways and methods of improving the learning outcomes of school children which would result in enhancing the quality of elementary education.

As you sow so shall you reap. This is very much true for Indian elementary education and current situation of India. A lot of concepts in each chapter in each book in limited time should be grasped by student from class 1. The students having good memory power wins and later wins with many degrees in their life. They become scientist, engineer, IAS. But the problem of country is still there as it were 50 years back. The scientist engineer fail to give creative and innovative theories and ideas.

Dr.Ramaa S Universalization of enrollment and retention should definitely be followed by enhancement of achievement & performance in all students. The classroom teachers should be in a position to understand the reasons for learning difficulties among students and help them to overcome those difficulties through appropriate remedial instructions. The teachers need training in both diagnosis and remediation of learning difficulties. They should adapt scientific and evidence based strategies .

new education policy should be totally based on vedas , as we know that the mordern science is based on vedas only . but since we get the name of foreighner scientgist as the inventor so we love to go foreign and hate our country as we don't know that what our country has given to modern science. so it is a request to make Vedas as base of new education system. Just eliminate mackoley education system which has destroyed our culture and roots.

About Math skills. There is no country in world where children like to go to Maths class irrespective of their liking/disliking of the subject. This suggests that something is fundamentally wrong in our way of teaching Maths. I think this issue has to be discussed and confronted.In my view it is our problem solving approach. students are made to memorise a single technique instead of solving same problem in multiple ways.Gov can consult expert educationalists such as Manjul Bhargav to fix it.

Learning by doing is must at each and every stage of education.At elementary level the child needs an atmosphere of love,care and joy while indulging himself/herself in learning.The child must be free to explore in an atmosphere of discipline.Students are still burdened with heavy syllabus.A teacher must be provided with the concepts a student must grasp during the learning period of a particular class.A teacher must be free to choose an activity for his/her class.

ELEMENTRY EDUCATION SHOULD BR BASED ON LEARNING BY PLAYING . SO IN BEGINNING , FEAR OF EDUCATION FROM CHILD MIND CAN BE REMOVED. HE WILL TAKE ENJOY ABLE EVENT OF LIFE. THEIR SHOULD BE SOME CREATIVE AND CHALLENGING ACTIVITY FROM BEGINNING. BRING CHILD NEAR TO NATURE BY ACTIVITY AND PLAY

School education should focus on "Learning by Doing" (natural process for children before entering formal schooling). They should learn to do tasks that they need through life and show them the relevance of the subjects that are currently in their curriculum. Similarly all the current subjects should be taught as they perform their daily chores including cleaning their school, kitchen garden, cooking, etc. Assessment should take into account how well they can do these tasks besides academic test

In education we are following the american culture.In india it is not required. We have our limitations. We as indians should provide good morals in elementary education to studends. So that they can be good citizen in future. The gurukuls in ancient era are the best example for it. We should study that education system and should apply the things those are helpful to meet the present requirements.
