Several studies have shown that school children do not seem to acquire age appropriate skills in reading, writing and numeracy. There is a need to explore the various approaches to improve teaching–learning at the elementary stage. The objective of this theme is to understand the issues of low learning achievement levels in elementary schooling, assess the system of Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation and suggest ways and methods of improving the learning outcomes of school children which would result in enhancing the quality of elementary education.

There should be websites where students who have spent lakhs of rupees to get admission in professional colleges and who are witnessing pathetic educational standards in such institutes , can complain to education minister regarding that and also act as whistle blowers for corrupt practices rampant esp rampant in private institutes

Teachers at all levels are very poorly paid. Its horrifying that teachers in private educational institutes run by politicians have to pay lakhs of rupees to trustees to simply get a low salaried job in such institutes. When morale of a teacher is destroyed due to such bad experiences how do you expect him / her to give proper education to students. Anyone listening ?

When students from reserved category know that crutches are available at every step from primary education till promotions in jobs why would they take efforts to build their merit. Resrvation policy thus encourages complacency and mediocricy. When 2 candidates have identical merit , then giving preference to one from reserved category is ok. India has suffered and already lost a lot dt reservations. High hopes from PM Narendra Modi that he will take bold steps to phase out reservations at all le

1) Its time to review reservation policy at all levels. Even Babasaheb Ambedkar had said that reservation policy needs to be reviewed and revised every 10 years. Upgradation of State to common course to ape CBSE has led to many failures, increased anxiety and increase in more money gobbling tutorials. As in US we should have syllabus catering to the level of intelligence of students. Not same for all. All students are different -same syllabus-causes more harm. Better provide more OPTIONS.

The state syllabus has been upgraded to CBSE for the convenience of All India entrance exams. This is difficult for average students as CBSE is tougher. But, i am sure all the students are not interested to become engineers or doctors, they just want a degree. If we have 2 sets of State syallabus one for students aiming for BE or MBBS or similar professions and one a simpler form for those who are interested to join other courses -it will cater to the need of all kinds of students.

Childern really dont realise the need of education at that tender age.what needs to be done is that subject should be made more interactive and applicable to day to day life.only then will it generate interest and increase the learning curve.remember you can take a horse to a pond but cannot make him drink water.no matter how good the teachers, infrastructure facilities the child will not learn till he finds it interesting.what better way than through interactive studies rather than dry mugging
