Several studies have shown that school children do not seem to acquire age appropriate skills in reading, writing and numeracy. There is a need to explore the various approaches to improve teaching–learning at the elementary stage. The objective of this theme is to understand the issues of low learning achievement levels in elementary schooling, assess the system of Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation and suggest ways and methods of improving the learning outcomes of school children which would result in enhancing the quality of elementary education.

Elementary education is facing a curious problem. The parent and children interested in education go to Private schools where teachers are ill or untrained and inexperienced, thus it is a failure. The Govt schools have well trained and experienced teachers. Parent who send their children, even the children are not interested in study. They aim to collect the freebies and the free food offered there. This also is a failure. Useful plan suggested in next comment please.

REKHA Set measurable learning outcomes in Elementary Education and give marks for that through CCE. For ex 1.Adoring to truth (consult with parents and rank them according to the truthfulness they follow at home, play ground, etc.) 2. Let them plant a tree at the age of 5 and by they reach 4th standard give them grades for the way they maintain those trees. 3. Accepting faults ( if a child is ready to accept his faults, encourage his attitude by ranking him for that ) 4. sharing with others

In urban area and also in some big villages, private schools has started nursery,L.K.G and U.K.G classes before first standard. these pre-educational classes are leading a strong foundation for learning in a child than the other child who will take its first step for learning in the first standard. The motive of this fact is to draw your attention towards making the Aaganwadis and nursery education more attractive and joyful so that child cant stop itself to go there and start learning.

Accept the recommendations of Previous commissions that the primary education should be in mother tongue.
