The stage 2 of the Smart City competition is very crucial as each city’s Smart City Proposal (SCP) is supposed to contain the model chosen, whether retrofitting or redevelopment or greenfield development or a mix thereof, and additionally include Pan-City dimension with Smart Solutions. The Smart City Proposal (SCP) will also outline the consultations held with the city residents and other stakeholders. Also, a vision for the Smart City has to be prepared, and this vision should emerge from the needs, aspirations and wishes of the local people to make their city offering more to live better life.

The biggest driver of the Smart City is the smart citizen. Citizen involvement in Smart Cities is elevated. So, the Smart City Proposal will be Citizen Centric, designated after consultations with residents of the city and through active participation of various groups such as Residents Welfare Associations (RWAs), Tax Payers Associations (TPAs), Senior Citizens and Slum Dwellers Associations (SDAs).

During consultations, various issues such as areas of utmost concern, needs and priorities of citizens and different groups/associations will be identified and people centric solutions will be evolved.

Chandigarh Administration hereby invites the citizens of Chandigarh to share their views on ‘How to make Chandigarh a Smart City’. The campaign aims to increase public participation in Chandigarh Administration’s effort to garner support for the city’s quest for a Smart City tag.

The residents of Chandigarh can also post, share their ideas, views and opinions on ‘Smart Chandigarh’- the official mobile app of U.T., Administration.

First thing and required things to make Chandigarh Smart City is that take DEMOLITION DRIVE IN SLUM COLONIES all the colony form the City like 4 No Colony, Kumhar Colony.

I forward proposal to introduce parking police. All parking lots should be marked for the parking of 2wheeler/4wheeler/Heavy vehicles with proper lines. The role of the parking police should just be to issue parking voilation challan to all those who have not parked their vehicles properly in the marked area within the lines for parking. Further a dedicated tollfree helpline number should be there for this purpose so that residents can also inform of any such voilation to parking police.

Make more under pass for intersector connectivity on the lines of Sector 15-11 underpass. 1.It will help in easy out unnecessary congestion at round-abouts. 2.Help in saving of time in reaching the desired destination. 3.Help in saving fuel cost & also curb on excess pollution caused by extra running of car or the excess fuel burnt on the round-about for waiting for the signal. Instead of demolishing the Round-abouts on busy congested roads we should make under-passes to counter the problem.

1. ENFORCE TRAFFIC RULES WITH HEAVY PENALTIES 2. ENFORCE VEHICLES DO NOT CROSS THE ZEBRA CROSSING AT THE TRAFFIC LIGHTS 3. EDUCATE PEOPLE THAT PEDESTRIANS HAVE RIGHT OF WAY 4. MAKE RULES FOR JAY WALKING LIKE IN THE WEST 5. CONSTRUCT PEDESTRIAN UNDERPASSES AT BSUY TRAFFIC ROUTES AND ENFORCE ABOVE RULE

1) IF metro system is being planned please please make it so that in CHD it will be underground and not above. 2) Better Infrastructure for Hospitals. 3) Widen Roads where possible. 4) Improve Govt Schools Quality (Quality of education) 5) Check on Auto's and city buses (They stop anywhere they want and create jams) 6) 24*7 water supply & Electricity. 7) Markets for Southern Sectors. (Southern sectors are your responsibility too. Don't just ignore them) 8) Better Internet Connections

CHD admin needs to collaborate with Govt vendors as well as private Internet services providers to bring good services here in CHD. This is the one thing i and most young people will want. No use of providing wifi zones if user can connect with it but can't access anything through that. First make the base strong and then build the structure on it. If initial structure is weak then no point to build things on it as with time it will erode away.

'SMART' City being CHD admin will be making most of the process online so as to streamline the process for people and make things hassle free. But that means nothing if the user can't seem to access the internet properly. With Windows 10 being launched and it being a bandwidth hogging OS. You can't use other services properly with a measly 512Kbps or 1Mpbs connection. All other major cities like Delhi,Pune,Mumbai have ridiculously high speed internet for low prices.
