The stage 2 of the Smart City competition is very crucial as each city’s Smart City Proposal (SCP) is supposed to contain the model chosen, whether retrofitting or redevelopment or greenfield development or a mix thereof, and additionally include Pan-City dimension with Smart Solutions. The Smart City Proposal (SCP) will also outline the consultations held with the city residents and other stakeholders. Also, a vision for the Smart City has to be prepared, and this vision should emerge from the needs, aspirations and wishes of the local people to make their city offering more to live better life.

The biggest driver of the Smart City is the smart citizen. Citizen involvement in Smart Cities is elevated. So, the Smart City Proposal will be Citizen Centric, designated after consultations with residents of the city and through active participation of various groups such as Residents Welfare Associations (RWAs), Tax Payers Associations (TPAs), Senior Citizens and Slum Dwellers Associations (SDAs).

During consultations, various issues such as areas of utmost concern, needs and priorities of citizens and different groups/associations will be identified and people centric solutions will be evolved.

Chandigarh Administration hereby invites the citizens of Chandigarh to share their views on ‘How to make Chandigarh a Smart City’. The campaign aims to increase public participation in Chandigarh Administration’s effort to garner support for the city’s quest for a Smart City tag.

The residents of Chandigarh can also post, share their ideas, views and opinions on ‘Smart Chandigarh’- the official mobile app of U.T., Administration.

"Make the government department fast, transparent and finally smart and after that we can image to work on Smart City concept" The govt. official look at us like they are doing a favor. But, the truth is that we pay them by paying taxes. First of all fix the Govt. Department work speed. And after that think about the "Smart City". Make most data of all govt departments available on Internet. For the data which the departments is not comfortable sharing, should have written explanation.

How about installing travelators (similar to ones in airport) across the town to help commute from one place to another? This self power generating setup can be done at a certain height above ground level either close to the main roads or above the service roads This will help individuals (with less baggage)to reach the destination much faster than any other mode. With the option to walk (instead of stand)on the travelator, the individual can cover large distance within a short period of time.

Every corner of the city maintained neat and cleaned in specific manner. If commercial work allowed by the authority, but it should be in specific manner and some limitation of work. Parking area and encroachment standard maintained. If its maintained it only in a paper work, in reality its need to much improved.

I have write so many e-mail to respective department for Commercial activities in Residential area, Manimajr, Some work are more polluted and filthy area. But no action will be taken by the Concerned Department in Dehra Shaib, Manimajra, U.T. Chandigarh

I have write e-mail to igp-chd@nic.in regarding The Road of Dehra Shaib is full of Commercial vehicle & private vehicle use for commercial use and they unusaly park on the road side. It have generate terrible sound of loading & unloading of tent house, cutter, drilling & welding, buzzing of commercial vehicle Trucks, terala and tourely loading & unloading sound on openly on the road on around 24 O' clock , sound pollution since long time.

No control of municipal corporation of Chandigarh on such activities. Residential of Dehra Shaib facing

Make one expressway 8/10 Lane around Chandigarh ( connecting Raipur Rani-Lalru- Banur-Kurali-Baddi). KMP expressway is already in proces around Delhi. Then Connect Chandigarh Ring with Delhi Ring with expressway along Yamuna river. It will give seamless connectivity from Delhi region to Chandigarh region. It will help move industry and Population from Delhi region (NCR) to Chandigarh Region (CCR), a win win situation for Both Regions.

Chandigarh region ( UT/PUNJAB/HARYANA/HIMACHAL as partner with help of Centre) should bid for Asian / Commonwealth games. it will give big boost to sports infrastructure in region and overall development. Already Chandigarh and its adjoining states have big potential for sports activities it will also encourage overall Medal tally of India in Olympics/Asian/Commonwealth Games in future.

Again Chandigarh cannot be smart city unless its suburbs are developed at same level. For this 1) Give Mohali IT Park SEZ Status to encourage IT industry 2) Develop Panchkula Extn 2 ( big chunk of not so fetile land is available upto Raipur Rani). bring some institution of National Importance to this area to move population from chandigarh or even Delhi to this area. 3) Develop Derabassi/ Lalru / Rajpura as manufacturing Hub. again it will help in decongestion of Chandigarh and Delhi
