We must start collating health service utilization data, at least across the major metros. This is the first step towards population health management. The analysis of such data has tremendous potential to inform care providers regarding the gaps and the major disease areas of concern. We should focus on an integrated Health Information Technology system to capture patient data.

Alcohol is also a drug. Why this soft corner for alcohol. When its use has led to so many tragedies worldwide?Other drugs invite death penalties in so many countries? Some rethinking is definitely required. In our view very little is done regarding educating our future generation about this.We on our part screen our short film Pratishthaa on the subject and have a subsequent debate in as many classrooms of standard 8 and above in as many schools/colleges as possible. So far we have done 500 times.

Door to door screening with Rapid HIV (finger prick) Test by Anganwadi Sevika in village and by lady health worker in city will be most effective primary tool for screening HIV in our country. Give short training for procedure & safety & allow them to screen of newborns to 65 yrs old. Keep record of +ve case & extend screening of their children & parents who are out of village or city and start early treatment. This will surely be proved most cost effective mass screening of HIV in India.
