As the Indian population continues to grow there will be an immense competition for natural resources while achieving food, nutritional, environmental and livelihood security in the country. In addition, the negative consequences of climate change become more evident in agriculture with exploitation of natural resources, decline in soil fertility, ground water levels to meet the ever increasing demands for food and nutritional requirements. To maintain sustainable balance between natural resources and the demand, immediate attention is needed in several areas viz., imbalanced use of fertilizers, declining soil organic carbon, lowering of water table, soil health, organic farming and climate change impact in agriculture sector.

Recent studies on soil biodiversity, rapid composting techniques, use of bio-filters for removal of heavy metals from compost, application of Nano sensors in agriculture to improve nutrient use efficiency, need based fortification of micro nutrients; availability of soil health card, conservation agriculture for enhancing soil health etc. will support sustainable management of natural resources in agriculture.

With a particular focus on scientific and technical understanding of natural resources management, this portal tries to incorporate stakeholders suggestions in achieving sustainable natural resources management.

Birds make nest at such locations from where they can get their food easily. But generally the trees alongside the road are beautiful and green but unable to provide fruit and shelter to birds. Why not we plant fruit and herbal trees like (Neem, Peepal, Mango, Jamun, Babul) along the roadside. Shadow of these trees is denser, cooler and healthier. Also they can provide Nest and Food to Birds A small homework before tree plantation drive surely have high returns on our efforts and money

We have water connection for all residences in city and rural areas as well .. Can we have a planned lay out of water supply for saplings planted and trees which already exist in city areas which can be controlled from one place ?

Why can't we use road dividers of cities for planting trees many places are observed to be having street lights on road dividers but trees go missing. I know street lights are important but trees are equally important as well .. Why can't we simultaneously have trees with street lights on roads

Public sector and private sector enterprises shall have to be made partners in a big way in participating in ecodrives like plantation, development of lakes, rain harvesting, maintenance and be incentivised with carbon credits to those who contribute to the upliftment ,ecodrives initiated by them.

In in barren lands of villages, small lakes should be developed wherein aquaculture can be developed through local people which would pave way for production of fish and other aqua produce.such works should be entrusted to local village panchayats for development, revenue and upliftment of their places.

Hills within the cities are lying barren without trees.bushes are growing instead which serves no purpose thereby leading to earth warming.growth of trees on hills will attract clouds easily and cool the area as well as produce rain.the hills within cities, villages, towns etc should be classified as reserve forest and the forest dept should be entrusted with the responsibility of plantation and maintenance under the strict governance of forest act.

Environment protection will in itself pave way for social, economical development. As most of our fellow members are suggesting, afforestation in all parts of the country, cities towns, villages will help us in achieving good rainfall besides cool and conducive environment for agriculture and increase of water table.

My suggestion is for Environment Ministry, Provide trees or give some grant to schools for plantation of trees in the premises of the school.
