As the Indian population continues to grow there will be an immense competition for natural resources while achieving food, nutritional, environmental and livelihood security in the country. In addition, the negative consequences of climate change become more evident in agriculture with exploitation of natural resources, decline in soil fertility, ground water levels to meet the ever increasing demands for food and nutritional requirements. To maintain sustainable balance between natural resources and the demand, immediate attention is needed in several areas viz., imbalanced use of fertilizers, declining soil organic carbon, lowering of water table, soil health, organic farming and climate change impact in agriculture sector.

Recent studies on soil biodiversity, rapid composting techniques, use of bio-filters for removal of heavy metals from compost, application of Nano sensors in agriculture to improve nutrient use efficiency, need based fortification of micro nutrients; availability of soil health card, conservation agriculture for enhancing soil health etc. will support sustainable management of natural resources in agriculture.

With a particular focus on scientific and technical understanding of natural resources management, this portal tries to incorporate stakeholders suggestions in achieving sustainable natural resources management.

one cultivated land may utilized for two product one is crop and another is planting fruit tree in the same land by placing certain gap. I think this method needs more propaganda. Govt may distribute young fruit plant freely to the rural dwellers for planting any where in the village, it will ultimately help the livelihood of the villagers. Fruit may help us as food security to some extent.

Surprisingly, newly built houses are not considering percolation pits necessary. All builders and contractors who build houses should be given directions of new ways and easy ways of groundwater recharge. So that they insist the owners to use them, if the owners are considering it necessary. The rainwater conserved and used after filters(like filters being used in Bangalore city) ensures good water usage for owner in clean and without germs, bacteria, protozoa.

If effective, efficient management of local natural resources. Groundwater depletion needs urgent attention. Few areas in country are mostly dependent on groundwater.

Recent studies of water Table in Jaipur City have shown that areas where two of the 58 water harvesting plants were operational have shown significant increase in water table. Remaining areas where the balance 56 plants were not operational showed depletion of water table. The 56 sites remain unoperational merely because they have not been cleaned up and are clogged. Can the PMO initiate a mission similar to SWACHCH BHARAT. Minimum effort shall give maximum and guaranteed results.

Banega Dost China: Pehle China Jeb Mein, Phir Pakistan Jooti Ke Niche. Chinese people are very much drawn to the Indian Culture, and have Common Values. Opening up more Channels of Communications - Tourism, Trade, Manufacturing, Ayurveda, Yoga, Temples,Festivals, Bollywood Shows, High Profile Shaadi's, etc. will go a long way. Eventually China will become like India.

I may be slightly off-track in terms posting to this topic, but in general I deal with optimization of the entire supply chain from inputs to production to sales and distribution until it reaches the end consumers. Attached pdf contains a conceptual outline. In a large and populous country like ours, we must achieve scale of economies, lower input costs, optimized operational & administration costs in order to achieve better returns and spread risks and rewards amongst rich and poor.

I think the side of railway tracks and roadsides can be used for plantations in whole country and all indian residents should grow atleast one tree every year and take verymuch care for it.
