As the Indian population continues to grow there will be an immense competition for natural resources while achieving food, nutritional, environmental and livelihood security in the country. In addition, the negative consequences of climate change become more evident in agriculture with exploitation of natural resources, decline in soil fertility, ground water levels to meet the ever increasing demands for food and nutritional requirements. To maintain sustainable balance between natural resources and the demand, immediate attention is needed in several areas viz., imbalanced use of fertilizers, declining soil organic carbon, lowering of water table, soil health, organic farming and climate change impact in agriculture sector.

Recent studies on soil biodiversity, rapid composting techniques, use of bio-filters for removal of heavy metals from compost, application of Nano sensors in agriculture to improve nutrient use efficiency, need based fortification of micro nutrients; availability of soil health card, conservation agriculture for enhancing soil health etc. will support sustainable management of natural resources in agriculture.

With a particular focus on scientific and technical understanding of natural resources management, this portal tries to incorporate stakeholders suggestions in achieving sustainable natural resources management.

There is urgent need to recognize the right of peasants who have protected arable soil and cultivated it for generations, I request my government to include in food security act a provision of an enabling fund i.e. "Brown box subsidy" for peasants so that they can enter into agribusiness by organic and sustainable production and move to higher level of supply chain with enriched products.

10% wastage of grain annually and 40% wastage of fruits and vegetables everyyear amounts to more than One Lakh Crore. There is no rocket science required to save this one lakh crore every year. It only requires a political will and little tough decisions to initiate a change. Check out this presentation please - http://www.slideshare.net/PKBhardwaj/free-storage-to-farmers-43625264 Farmers can produce, govt simply have to provide them FREE storage. This only can bring inclusive growth.
