As the Indian population continues to grow there will be an immense competition for natural resources while achieving food, nutritional, environmental and livelihood security in the country. In addition, the negative consequences of climate change become more evident in agriculture with exploitation of natural resources, decline in soil fertility, ground water levels to meet the ever increasing demands for food and nutritional requirements. To maintain sustainable balance between natural resources and the demand, immediate attention is needed in several areas viz., imbalanced use of fertilizers, declining soil organic carbon, lowering of water table, soil health, organic farming and climate change impact in agriculture sector.

Recent studies on soil biodiversity, rapid composting techniques, use of bio-filters for removal of heavy metals from compost, application of Nano sensors in agriculture to improve nutrient use efficiency, need based fortification of micro nutrients; availability of soil health card, conservation agriculture for enhancing soil health etc. will support sustainable management of natural resources in agriculture.

With a particular focus on scientific and technical understanding of natural resources management, this portal tries to incorporate stakeholders suggestions in achieving sustainable natural resources management.

Appeal of our Honourable Prime Minister has tremendous impact. If he appeals to reduce consumption of petroleum goods in the interest of country, people may prefer smaller vehicles.

The same way the concentration of Industry resulted into pollution, deterioration in quality of life of people, URBANISATION has also resulted into the same situation. Hence, appropriate TOWN PLANNING resulting into smaller towns may be implemented. Life in metros and other large cities has become miserable. Those have become Concrete Jungles. More we spend on creating infrastructure and amenities in villages, more people will tempt to migrate to villages and smaller towns.

Basically nature has given us enough. Only thing the natural resources are being consumed by Urbanites like anything at the cost of Rural population. Mainly the uncontrolled construction activity is wasting lots of natural resources and also damaging environment. Secondly, consumption of electricity by urbanites is also affecting the environment. Quantum of water foot prints may be made compulsory to be displayed on all the products and made know for all services.
