As the Indian population continues to grow there will be an immense competition for natural resources while achieving food, nutritional, environmental and livelihood security in the country. In addition, the negative consequences of climate change become more evident in agriculture with exploitation of natural resources, decline in soil fertility, ground water levels to meet the ever increasing demands for food and nutritional requirements. To maintain sustainable balance between natural resources and the demand, immediate attention is needed in several areas viz., imbalanced use of fertilizers, declining soil organic carbon, lowering of water table, soil health, organic farming and climate change impact in agriculture sector.

Recent studies on soil biodiversity, rapid composting techniques, use of bio-filters for removal of heavy metals from compost, application of Nano sensors in agriculture to improve nutrient use efficiency, need based fortification of micro nutrients; availability of soil health card, conservation agriculture for enhancing soil health etc. will support sustainable management of natural resources in agriculture.

With a particular focus on scientific and technical understanding of natural resources management, this portal tries to incorporate stakeholders suggestions in achieving sustainable natural resources management.

To avoid Farmer suicide Govt has to educate them about the loan facility and availability of new technology and scientific cultivation methods. Govt may form Agri Police stations like crime policing and each and every area has to be brought under the particular locality Agri Thana to watch and guide that locality farmers. They also can keep record of agricultural activities and irregularities so that when compensation issue arises Farmers can be properly assed for compensation.

Fertile farming land should not compulsorily acquired in any case. Otherwise, there will be a day when we all should have t o eat only non-veg. In our Surat City, the Government has passed so many town planning scheme for sake of builders, resulting into no farming lands left around Surat city and thus vegetables become more costlier than earlier.

Sir, I have seen a documentary on Lok sabha TV 'Devas ke bhagirath' to remove the irrigation problem. It shows how a good effort with good thought can change the life of entire community within fews years. Now, Dewas is known for their water management programs in rural areas. Until 2005 Dewas was a drought area and farmers was having major problems as production was at very low level. Why don't we follow the model of Devas city for other district? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7RHAjnwXZmU
