As the Indian population continues to grow there will be an immense competition for natural resources while achieving food, nutritional, environmental and livelihood security in the country. In addition, the negative consequences of climate change become more evident in agriculture with exploitation of natural resources, decline in soil fertility, ground water levels to meet the ever increasing demands for food and nutritional requirements. To maintain sustainable balance between natural resources and the demand, immediate attention is needed in several areas viz., imbalanced use of fertilizers, declining soil organic carbon, lowering of water table, soil health, organic farming and climate change impact in agriculture sector.

Recent studies on soil biodiversity, rapid composting techniques, use of bio-filters for removal of heavy metals from compost, application of Nano sensors in agriculture to improve nutrient use efficiency, need based fortification of micro nutrients; availability of soil health card, conservation agriculture for enhancing soil health etc. will support sustainable management of natural resources in agriculture.

With a particular focus on scientific and technical understanding of natural resources management, this portal tries to incorporate stakeholders suggestions in achieving sustainable natural resources management.

Post 10 ( Contd) : 4> Improve the life standard of farmers by means of saving their time on kitchen fuel collection time , drinking water collection time, travelling time to nearby schools , hospitals , markets etc. Every village should have "Gobar- Gas Plant " with all house linked . Smokeless Chulha be made available to all kitchen . This should be made target for every Block Development Officer .

Post 9( Contd): 3> Increase in input cost( fertilizer, power, diesel etc. ) kills the farmers income. These prices will always increase as they are imported. So lets put more emphasis to solar power pumps and use of natural manures. This will ultimately reduce their input cost. It is good for govt of india also to save exchequer burden on petroleum import.

Post 8( Contd): Proper / more vendor boggies should be added based on demand on rural rail network. TTEs should not demand bribe and ticket prices should be low to prevent corruption. Same way road transport in even bigger issues. There should be dedicated trucks/ minivan just like state govt run buses to carry faremers goods to market with reasonable rates. Its just like how milk - dairies work. Timely distribution means good prices for farmers and users both and low wastages.

Post 7 ( Contd): b> Video recording during construction phase ( say on weekly basis for 1 hour during major works like fondation laying, roof laying , floor laying .. I mean on major parts which will decide the construction quality. 2b> Timely distribution means that farmers should have proper access by means of good roads, good vehicles( onreasonable rates) to sell their products in proper market. If you go to railway to book your goods they will demand bribe .

Post 6 ( Contd): 2a> Now we can reduce wastages by proper storage, timely distribution. Health check of FCI -godown be done by third party agencies with video recording and if possible involve media also. This is to check corruption. Construction quality of go-downs will be made very strict and we need a corruption free govt mechanism and good government will power with objective goals. Like : a> Go-downs to pass 3 rd party ISO certificationson construction quality

Post 5 ( Contd): Please note that these are the products which impacts most in short term to a farmer. We can then guide farmers that one should grow on these acres a particular vegetables to gain good price. All villagers must be informed aout the acrage under production vs price fetched previous years.

Post 4( Contd): It should be then aggregated to calculate the production on commissionery level or zonal market level. Concept of zonal market level means where farmers usually will sell their product. 1b> Agriculture dept should prepare a demand supply pattern on zonal market level month wise . It should be cross verified using third party survey. It will help to plan zonal market level planning of production of perishable products( basically vegetables, fruits etc.) .

Post 3 ( Contd): The problem farmers face is sudden overproduction of a particular product which leads to drop in price. For example tomato sometimes it sells at 40 Rs/ kg and next month 5 Rs / kg. Farmers have to face the financial loss. Now there are agriculture dept in evry district . The VLW( part of horticulture dept) shall be assigned to collect data on village level on computers ( or copy) on how many acres particular crop is being grown.

Post 2( Contd): We can achieve as below : 1a> Farmers must have a bank account and they should be educated how to use bank account by NGOs. There should be a trust level generated that their money is safe, their ATMs or passbook should be protected. Now when farmers grow say ( Tomato, potato, rice..) they should be able to store and sell it in the market without coming into grip of middlemen, police etc.
