Water is a vital resource for life, and for the economy. Nowadays, one of the most serious challenges to solve and manage the water scarcity. With the depletion of water resources, the demand for quality water is increasing day by day. Water utilities are under pressure to provide good quality water, but are struggling with their outdated infrastructure at the same time. Furthermore, one of the major concerns of water utilities is the increasing wastage and pollution of water bodies caused due to metering errors, leaks, pipe bursts, and industrial waste. To manage all these issues, water utilities have to come up with smart water management solutions and techniques.

IoT may be used in potable water monitoring tools to monitor the quality of tap water in all government owned education institutes and public places. It should be applied in real-time detection of leakages and wastes of factories in rivers and other natural water bodies. It can also be used in monitoring of water level variations in rivers, dams and reservoirs, for proactive disaster management.

Smart water management is the combination of smart hardware, smart solutions, and smart services integrated together to minimize wastage and optimize the utilization. Intelligent use of information and analytics can be leveraged to deliver improved outcomes across the water management lifecycle.

With the help of this discussion platform we request you to share your valuable inputs on how IOT can be used in:

• Demand Forecasting and Allocation of water resources
• Water Quality Testing
• Infrastructure Management
• Improve Preparedness and Response to water management system

Your suggestions on the above topics will help us to make an integrated view and plan of action for Smart Water development by applying IoT and analytics.

Use 1 MLD sewerage treatment plant as standard norm. It can co-exist with existing playgrounds / parks / other open spaces within residential areas. Treated water can be channelized through rain water drains to nearest lake. Secondary treatment will occur at lake by natural percolation to ground water table. It will boost ground water tables. Thank you.

The rain water drains are mostly clogged by citizen / administration. It does not serve the purpose of rain water flow. Re-design the rain water drains as aquifers. It will allow and help ground water re-charging. Thank you.

The first and foremost thing is to educate the urban and rural people. Much of the water is wasted during bath, brushing, washing etc., one idea to restrict these is to use sensors for the taps and other is to use a pedal. So that if a person presses the pedal with a leg the water shall release. so that considerable amount of water is saved.

Since most people do not care about natural resources until it hurts them financially (eg, how many people waste electricity or petrol? nobody, because they have to pay for it). Every house should have water meter. It will cut down half of the wastage automatically because people will be more careful with running taps.

Segregation of waste water pipeline into two sections 1) Waste water from Bathroom, kitchen & washing machine 2) waste of Toilet The waste water from Bathroom etc can be recycled and made suitable for flushing toilets &gardening purpose. All new apartment blocks under construction can have the necessary infrastructure to recycle and use reclaimed water on site. Will provide lifetime water saving at a small extra plumbing cost. Maybe govt can consider giving tax benefits to offset costs

In most of the upcoming cities, apartments and layouts are coming up. The developer should take up the responsibility of having the waste water management setup in his layout. So that while planning the layout, they can ensure that waste water coming out of each house is divereted to water management plot within the layout and that water is used for gardening and also if the water management system is set up adjacent to another layout, then multiple layouts can share the cost.

Water is basic thing for us, we can't imagine world without water. Just use water like money because the water resources are few now a days. One yojna on time of atalji was join all river of India we can think on it because due to flood in eastern states there is loss of crop on other hand Western States are lacking of water.make water consumption chargeable one can afford.so one can use water what they need. Only mentalities of people can make changes in saving water.

we can save water by making different water route for waste water and pure water. we see same water that is coming out of industry and house supply directly enter into river and makes river dirty. so we must make a route near river and transport water in different way other than river . by this we can save plenty of money, save our-self from flood, conserve water and allow a continuous flow of water to every part. addition to this we can make a beautiful environment.
