Water is a vital resource for life, and for the economy. Nowadays, one of the most serious challenges to solve and manage the water scarcity. With the depletion of water resources, the demand for quality water is increasing day by day. Water utilities are under pressure to provide good quality water, but are struggling with their outdated infrastructure at the same time. Furthermore, one of the major concerns of water utilities is the increasing wastage and pollution of water bodies caused due to metering errors, leaks, pipe bursts, and industrial waste. To manage all these issues, water utilities have to come up with smart water management solutions and techniques.

IoT may be used in potable water monitoring tools to monitor the quality of tap water in all government owned education institutes and public places. It should be applied in real-time detection of leakages and wastes of factories in rivers and other natural water bodies. It can also be used in monitoring of water level variations in rivers, dams and reservoirs, for proactive disaster management.

Smart water management is the combination of smart hardware, smart solutions, and smart services integrated together to minimize wastage and optimize the utilization. Intelligent use of information and analytics can be leveraged to deliver improved outcomes across the water management lifecycle.

Regulating water wastage mandatory to charge water supply. Artificial lakes/ponds in rural areas to be encouraged for healthy supply.Punish,penalize,monitor those involved in wastage.Public water supply taps should be stringently supervised in fact they should be done away.The Mun.Corporation can outsource this task to private agencies for swifter action. More jobs created effective solution. Massive campaign on making water awareness in all media platforms in vernacular language.

like any other extincting natural human resources .....water should also be charged accordingly thier uses....you charge for verything like electricity, petrol, foodgrains ,clothes , then why not water.............and what about the lifestyle of affluent families who are having swimming pool.........an big example of water wastage , ehich you never mention.....coz you too are involve in theat.....living the same life.

Water managment ke liye jaruri h water demands ko samajhna aur uske anusar policy banana. Hum drip irrigation, water recycling, water recharge site for every construction, seprate water supplies for fresh and recycled water, strictly control over boring jaise kuch point par focus krke kafi pani bachha sakte hai.

6. Rainwater harvesting must be mandatory for all new constructions. 7. All city drains must be cleaned and rainwater must be channelised into nearest water body. 8. City's sewage must be treated and used for watering parks and gardens. 9. Bottling of soft-drinks and other beverages must not be allowed near agricultural areas. 10. Instead of harvesting freshwater in thermal plants, treated water may be used. #SmartWaterManagement, #SaveWater

1. Government should launch #WaterRevolution. 2. Every village, town, city and district must have as many freshwater ponds and lakes. 3. Identify existing water bodies and rejuvenate them by desilting, adding new water feeding source, barricading them, building bunds and cessation of polluting inflows. 4. Use state and central (MNAREGA) funds or source world bank loans to fund works on lakes. 5. Every municipal water connection must be metered to prevent misuse. #SmartWaterManagement

We at R.V.Institute of Management,Bangalore,created posters of A4 size to mark World Water Day 2016 on March 22. Forty two students from II Semester MBA created research posters. The idea of inserting one statistics in one sheet of paper worked very well. The posters were attractive and very informative. It just took 45 minutes to create each poster.Each student worked individually and at the end of an hour wonderful posters were produced. The posters were displayed on notice board.RVIM-CSR

India is a monsoon rich country still we let go all the rain water to the gutters. How feasible is to draw a sewage system for rain water harvesting in our villages, particularly for Vidhrabh region? Increasing the water table is the only way for sustainable development.
