Dear sir,
Increasing fare of railway does'nt matter much if quality services are provided.
I visited three stations during my tour of kunda(a tehsil in pratapgarh district of UP) to chandigarh I rarely found any toilets in big stations like raebareli, lucknow, hardoi.
So please focus on basicity of stations.

Railways must exploit excess land commercially by selling excess land and building commercial units in station complexes and for only those commercial business related to passenger convenience and Tourism.

We have land on both sides of the rail line which can be used for growing seasonal vegetables where water resources are available. Local labour can be employed for this purpose under the overall supervision of the Railway Public Works dept. Alternately grass can be grown to be used as fodder for the cattle. At present most of this land are not utilized for any purpose and in case the above suggestion can be implemented, it will not only produce some revenue to Rlys but also generate employment.

#nonFareRevenue can be done by
* generating power from running trains (dynamo) solar panels
* managing the ads correctly in descent manner
* stopping the leakages of money in its department
* avoiding the unguarded metal parts on tracks (I have seen it thrown nea tracks n ppl robbing Dem)
* conducting sudden audits and checks in d department
* removing excess employees in fields (my friend's uncle is also an employ in swr n he sleeps in office as he himself told us)

During long halts, please make local small scale industry produce available at stations, outside first class Coaches .it could be silk, memento of historical heritage places, baskets, scarves, dolls, locally made toys / terracotta artefacts, lamp shades, jewellery. cloth , Many foreign tourists may be interested while in transit even if they cannot visit the place.
