Although Indian Railways enjoy the highest captive eyeballs in a railway system internationally, it earns less than 5% of its revenues through non-tariff sources. Many of the world railway systems generate 10% to 20% of their revenues from non-tariff sources.

IR typically has focused on increasing revenues through tariff hikes. It wants to change this and challenge the conventional thinking by exploiting new sources of revenue so that every asset, tangible or non-tangible, gets optimally monetized

We invite ideas from citizens on increasing non fare revenue for Indian Railways.

A small mini theatre can run movies at a cost on long distance Trains. The shows could also have regional movies of the train's destinations. The costs can be worked out as per class and number of persons travelling on that train. Even wi fi enabled paid connections could be made available in first class.

1] Please charge for use of Toilets and employ local people at stations for cleaning the toilets on long distance journeys. Paid toilets as per use , is a great idea. Toilet covers, sanitary napkins, tissue papers, Tooth brushes, pastes, liquid soaps, Hand sanitisers and disposable towels can be given to passengers at minimal costs like Sulabh Sauchalay does . Clean Toilets are the first requirements.

ट्रेन में वर्थ केवल 50 साल से ऊपर या ३०० किलोमीटर से ऊपर की यात्रा करने वालों को ही मिलनी चाहिए . ट्रेन में ४ स्लीपर और वाकी कोच सिटिंग होने चाहिए . ज्यादा लोग यात्रा करेंगे तो ज्यादा इनकम होगी और आम आदमी को भी बैठकर यात्रा करने को मिलेगी जो बेचारे जनरल बोगी में एक पैर पर खड़े होकर यात्रा करते हैं.

Conduct auction for co-branding of train names for 2/3 years duration. Eg: Train number 1234 Delhi Lucknow Godrej Rajdhani Express. With brand name appearing on all tickets, railway booking website, railway display boards and all announcements.

promote good latest movies on large screen out side the station earn revenue.give good massage to people there awareness and development messages.

Special trains may kindly be announced on those routes where the demand of people is raising.Special fare may kindly be charged on special routes,due to which the loss of railway can be completed and people can avail the train facilities.

Using the renewable energy like solar,wind etc reduce maintenance cost of railways. Change Traditional track system update with latest track systems, ridd off all useless expenditure, improve goods transport, extend seasonal bogies to each train, introduce new route trains it's remote stations and doubling the routes, introduce railway tv channel,wifi,internet,projectors at the stations, introduce railway bank, railway university, food and accommodation must run by railway all stations

Most of the trains are reserved for different categories,and officers of states and central govt..No any relaxation be given to those persons who are getting salary from the govt.Every citizen of india who is getting salary from the head of govt.of india have to pay the amount of fare ticket,In this regard notification may kindly be issued and relaxation given by the govt.on fare may kindly be cancelled.Every M.P.OF loksabha and Rajyasabha have to pay the charges of train fare compulsory.

Hello Sir, Please fasttrack the Delhi-Mumbai and Delhi- Kolkata Freight corridor and use it only for freight. Rationalize freight rates so that more revenue can be earned. Align cargo transport with coastal cargo movement by coastal ships to save energy and time. Manufacture only more load carrying wagons and LHB passenger coaches in all factories to improve safety. Align with e-commerce companies to courier items bought on websites within 24 hours al over India. Thanks Karun S Mathur
