National Statistical Office (NSO) under the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) has released a Discussion Paper titled “Methodological Improvements in Compilation of National Accounts Aggregates Using Expenditure Approach”. This exercise is part of the preparation for the new series of National Accounts Statistics with FY 2022–23 as the base year, which is scheduled for release on 27 February 2026.

The Discussion Paper outlines the proposed methodological refinements and improvements in the compilation of National Accounts aggregates using the Expenditure Approach, with the objective of enhancing the quality, accuracy, and usability of national accounts data.

Comments and feedback on the Discussion Paper are invited from experts, academicians, government bodies, state governments, financial institutions, users of national accounts data, and other stakeholders. Suggestions may be shared at: ddg3.nad@mospi.gov.in by 7 January 2026.

The revised series plans to use item-wise elementary CPI indices as deflators for valuables (gold, gems, ornaments) instead of the WPI based indices used in the current series. This is a "best practice" move because valuables are predominantly purchased by households for stores of value. Since CPI reflects the actual prices paid by consumers (including margins and taxes), it is a far more appropriate deflator for this category than wholesale prices

माननीय प्रधानमंत्री जी, सादर प्रणाम। मैं अजमेर, राजस्थान की निवासी हूँ। अरावली पहाड़ियाँ हमारे क्षेत्र की जल-व्यवस्था और पर्यावरण की रीढ़ हैं। “100 मीटर” परिभाषा के कारण अजमेर सहित कई क्षेत्रों की छोटी लेकिन महत्वपूर्ण अरावली पहाड़ियाँ संरक्षण से बाहर हो रही हैं, जिससे खनन, निर्माण और भूजल गिरावट का खतरा बढ़ रहा है। निवेदन है कि वैज्ञानिकों व पर्यावरण विशेषज्ञों से परामर्श लेकर अरावली के लिए अतिरिक्त सुरक्षा प्रावधान किए जाएँ, ताकि पर्यावरण और भविष्य सुरक्षित रह सके। धन्यवाद। स्थान: अजमेर, राजस्थान

आदरणीय मोदी जी, महिलाओं की स्थितियों पर भी थोड़ा और ध्यान दें जिससे उनके प्रति घरेलू तौर पर मानसिक रूप से प्रताड़ना को कम किया जा सके। आज पढ़ी लिखी नौकरीपेशा महिला भी समाज के डर से गलत का विरोध करने के लिए हजार बार सोचती है और फिर कही न कही घुटने टेक देती है कभी समाज के डर से तो कभी बच्चों के भविष्य खराब न हो ये सोच कर । ऐसी महिलाओं के लिए भी कुछ करें 🙏
