As per the recommendations made in NEP 2020, a set of standards has been developed to ensure that all students at all levels of school education are taught by passionate, motivated, highly qualified, professionally trained, and well-equipped teachers. National Professional Standard for Teachers(NPST) would help in determining the attributes of the teachers at different levels of career pathways. In addition to this, NPST focuses on preparations, practice and performance improvement of all teachers. The standards and related policies are in line with the fundamental principles given in the NEP 2020 to provide high quality education to all. NCTE was mandated by the Ministry to formulate a guiding document and platform for operationalizing NPST.

National Professional Standard for Teachers (NPST) will monitor the design of pre-service teacher education program. This could be then adopted by states and determine all aspects of teacher career management, including tenure, professional development efforts, salary increases, promotions, and other recognitions.

In this regard, a draft document on NPST has been developed by NCTE after incorporating ideas and suggestions received from experts of various domains. The draft document has been released on November 17, 2021 to invite the suggestions and feedback from all stakeholders.

The Power of One Our demographic size and variables may defeat us however, there is one common factor that can turn the tide and lead the Indian education system out of its current morass of aimlessness and inflexibility to become a progressive, flexible, multidisciplinary, technology and skill focussed education system that will have the capability to produce competent, creative, skilled, employable and ethical learners. This common factor is – the Teacher.

A cursory comparison of the National Education Policy 2020 and the iconic Kothari Commission report that was majorly adopted as the first National Policy on Education,1968 reveals a lot of similarities in the challenges, concerns and even the proposed solutions, except for the current focus on 21 st century skills. Does it imply that Indian education has not progressed since then or that our socio-economic challenges are totally insurmountable or even may be that we are poor implementors of plan

With the Teacher’s Day just round the corner, lets examine what the National Education Policy 2020 has in store for teachers to lift them out their current uninspiring job profile, rampant exploitation and disincentivised service conditions. The NEP 2020 acknowledges the reality of unmotivated and dis-spirited Indian teacher and proposes to completely overhaul the teaching profession to create a robust merit-based structure of tenure, salary, and promotion, that incentivizes and recognizes outst

Teachers share a significant responsibility in preparing young people to lead successful and productive lives. The National Professional Standards for Teachers (the Standards) reflect and build on national and international evidence that teachers' effectiveness has a powerful impact on students, provide a dependable and consistent influence on young people as they make choices about further education, work and life.

The certification of attorneys buying support for rape offenders should be revoked. They should be identified by a black dot on the support card of family, friends and relatives who support them. Those who support, support, cover up and deal with crime are more dangerous than criminals. For this, strict legislation should come in the coming year. Girls' ID card should be linked to personal monitoring.

In every month, 2 feedback should be taken up from the students with gap of 15 days so that teachers will get to know about effectiveness in their teaching. Mere completion of syllabus is not deemed as understanding of subject. Feedback by higher authorities in absence of concerned teacher would held teachers accountable for their teaching methods and improvement can be initiated.

medium of teaching should be given importance because at times it has been evident that, medium is English, teachers are speaking in marathi/hindi. This inefficiency should be bridged by effective training.
