During the year 2015-16, India spent Rs.4.82 lakh crores on imports to fulfill domestic demand. To reduce the import burden, and also to work towards to a greener environment, it is proposed to avoid usage of Petrol/Diesel for one day in a week.

Our Hon’ble Prime Minister has urged all citizens to avoid usage of Petrol/Diesel for one day in a week. He has said that if 125 crore Indians pledge to do this, the dream of a ‘New India’ can be achieved.

Citizens are invited to suggest ways for encouraging and motivating the masses to avoid the usage of Petrol/Diesel for one day, every week.

Dear PM, My suggestion is you initiate petrol/diesel ration basis and encourage public transport and use the bicycle and provide cycle track/road separately like in foreign countries. The car and motor cycles are manufactured only export oriented only not for internal sales because we imported 90% crude oil from foreign countries.

Sir, as our country is having a lot of cantonment ares, which are also surrounded by defence establishments. So my suggestion is there should be some concession in purchasing bicycles through CSD for defence personnel and a strict program may be carry out for once in a week to avoid fuel and use bicycles in those defence establishments. As you know defence personnel are bound to be physically fit, so it will help them a lot. Thanking you.

Dear PM, to make it a great success we have to put in the minds of the people very clearly that either save today and enjoy tomorrow or enjoy today and suffer tomorrow. Nobody will care towards it after a few months thus everyweek the media must give a day saying chalo kuch naya karte hai so that people are clear that they have to save today and when massive people will do it on the same day others will also try to be a part and roads will be clear so people will enjoy & and india will progress.

Some of mine views are: 1.Any day can be declared Green day where people can leave petrol/diesel vehicles and commute by cycles,CNG vehicles, rickshaws etc. 2.Car pooling can be motivated and apps advertisement for booking secure pooling for men/women. 3.Motivation for health, green society ,low cost good cycles and camps to increase people participation for building our future more secure eg. is London. 4.Colleges,Offices and other govt/private institutes can provide benefits and other perks.

Given current state of transportation in the nation, encouraging or motivating someone to avoid petrol/diesel use for one day is like asking them to suffer for a day. Using particular mode of transport is habit. Habit develop as per the culture and facilities an individual is exposed to. Only way to include one another mode of transport that does not use petrol or diesel is to create the culture and facilities to encourage that mode as habit. Contd.. Please see attachment & reference link.
