The National Commission for Women, a Statutory Body set up in January 1992 under the National Commission for Women Act, 1990 has the mandate to safeguard the constitutional and statutory rights of women. The Commission initiates program which aids empowerment and holistic development of women so that they are capable to gain access to opportunities and make their own decisions.

International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women was launched in 2000 by the U.N General Assembly. It is observed annually on November 25th. International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women seeks to raise awareness about violence against women. This day aims to eliminate violence by removing stigma and encouraging women to speak out against abusers. This day defines violence against women as any act of gender-based violence that results in or is likely to result in, physical, sexual, or psychological harm to women. The goal of this day is to achieve equality, development, and peace. It aims toward the fulfillment of women's and girls’ human rights.

In pursuance of its mandate and in order to achieve the goal of ‘Elimination of Violence against Women', the Commission invites inputs, suggestions, and feedback from all stakeholders through MyGov Portal, with a focus on Breaking the Silence against Gender Violence. The aim of the programme is to promote equality, development, and peace among the masses.

The last date to receive suggestions/input is 24th December 2021.

First we need to prevent misuse of 498a, dv act etc. Check suicidal statistics and check why men suicidal ratio is higher than women. What media shows is not correct. Men need support in depression caused my fake cases filed by women. Most divorced fathers are not getting access to their children though large amount of money are being extorted from men by women as maintenance and alimony. Women are not ready to stay married and try to get divorced to get money from men due to these biased laws

DV act must be made gender neutral. Men are being presumed guilty unless proven innocent and have to suffer for years due to gender biased laws and prejudice. Most of the freedom fighters were men who sacrificed their lives and mostly men are working in dangerous and risky jobs. Men are working hard and need protection from cruel wives. This is an assumption that men are not victims of domestic violence. Suicide rates of men are far more in numbers compared with women.

As a woman I want govt to work upon the laws such a way where a sister & mothers are also heard, not just daughter in laws. They lie everywhere just to harass, stop misuse of laws made for actual victims but the protection & help does not reach to them as fake ablanari keep the police, judges judiciary busy in their fake cases of 498A, DV and various maintenance cases. Make laws which are gender neutral. Why don't you see Men are harassed becuase of these women centric laws.

Let's educate both so that they can respect each other...need education system revamp. Vedas and scriptures are forgotten.... Need to teach women how to gain respect and not to demand just because she is women...
