The National Commission for Women, a Statutory Body set up in January 1992 under the National Commission for Women Act, 1990 has the mandate to safeguard the constitutional and statutory rights of women. The Commission initiates program which aids empowerment and holistic development of women so that they are capable to gain access to opportunities and make their own decisions.

International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women was launched in 2000 by the U.N General Assembly. It is observed annually on November 25th. International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women seeks to raise awareness about violence against women. This day aims to eliminate violence by removing stigma and encouraging women to speak out against abusers. This day defines violence against women as any act of gender-based violence that results in or is likely to result in, physical, sexual, or psychological harm to women. The goal of this day is to achieve equality, development, and peace. It aims toward the fulfillment of women's and girls’ human rights.

In pursuance of its mandate and in order to achieve the goal of ‘Elimination of Violence against Women', the Commission invites inputs, suggestions, and feedback from all stakeholders through MyGov Portal, with a focus on Breaking the Silence against Gender Violence. The aim of the programme is to promote equality, development, and peace among the masses.

The last date to receive suggestions/input is 24th December 2021.

NCW never does it's job. Our tax money is funding the pockets of public servants that do not give a damn about women safety. Start with doing your job for which women register complaints to NCW. Since February 2021, NCW sends mails to SSP without caring about the one year delay. Is this why the commission was formed. So start doing your job!

Hon.Modiji,Moral education upto the ground level is very imp .The sense of equality, every one can understand. Some time women are not adjusting with another and then violence started.. Dominant nature, ego, various complexes etc. are the reasons for the violence. equality can come when everyone willbecome physically, mentally, imotionally strong. Here the adaptation of Indian culture works,to stop violence against women strick rules should be apply.so educated women=educated family=educated nation

What it feels to face sexual harassment and keep narrating the same thing repeatedly at each place to get justice is beyond anyone's imagination. The perpetrators commit the crime and later on very easily escape as the whole system right from the place where to harassment started to the judiciary is ready to take advantage of the situation of a woman who is already in a state of trauma and stressed out and at total loss of sense how to get out of the situation she is in.
