Registration of Births and Deaths in India is mandatory with the enactment of Registration of Births and Deaths (RBD), Act 1969 and is done as per the place of occurrence of the event. With a view to simplify the provisions of various sections of the existing RBD Act, 1969 and to make it people friendly, the Government of India has proposed to amend the RBD Act, 1969.

Existing sections of the Act and amendments proposed by the Office of the Registrar General, India (ORGI) are indicated in the first two columns of the proposal respectively.
Ministry of Home Affairs seeks feedback and suggestions along with the justification for the proposed amendments.

आदरणीय महोदय नमस्कार। जन्म एवं मृत्यु का रजिस्ट्रेशन अवश्य ही होना चाहिए। इससे बहुत ही धरातल स्तरीय समस्याओं से निजात मिल सकती है। जैसे गरीब लोगों की वृद्धा पेंशन, विधवा पेंशन, मिलने में जटिलता का सामना नहीं करना पड़ेगा। अभी कुछ मामलों में देखा जाता है की जरूरत मंद लोगों वृद्धा पेंशन नहीं मिलती। जबकि सांठगांठ से कम उम्र वाले लोगों को वृद्धा पेंशन मिलने लगती है। जय हिन्द।

moreover in the case of death certificate, it is mandatory to get the aadhaar card photocopy of your two neighbors, which might be very difficult if your relations with your neighbors are not good. in such a case neighbors shall not be immediate neighbors as you will be maintaining good relations with the other people of your area instead of your neighbors.

this pin shall be generated and sent on the mobile number of the parents as SMS , this pin shall be used to view the certificate online portal and download/print the certificate. in case of lost pin a new pin can be generated from the online portal by providing the aadhaar card number and the new pin will be sent on the concerned persons mobile through which you can view/download the certificate.

or births, the hospital/nursing home, in which a child is born shall submit the details on the online portal of the birth of a child along with the details of the new born child and his/her parents, their correspondence address & permanent address along with the aadhaar card number of the father & the mother of the child. the certificate shall be issued online to avert any corrupt practices like taking bribe and delaying issuing the birth certificate. a pin shall be generated for the parents

for getting the death certificate primarily there are some followups like getting a letter from the local corporator of your area and aadhaar card photocopy of your two neighbors, aadhaar card copy of the deceased person. i would hereby recommend to dissolve the rule of taking a letter from the local corporator as the corporator does not know everyone residing his/her area moreover the corporator visits his/her area once in a blue moon. this mandatory rule might become corrupt practice.
