Registration of Births and Deaths in India is mandatory with the enactment of Registration of Births and Deaths (RBD), Act 1969 and is done as per the place of occurrence of the event. With a view to simplify the provisions of various sections of the existing RBD Act, 1969 and to make it people friendly, the Government of India has proposed to amend the RBD Act, 1969.

Existing sections of the Act and amendments proposed by the Office of the Registrar General, India (ORGI) are indicated in the first two columns of the proposal respectively.
Ministry of Home Affairs seeks feedback and suggestions along with the justification for the proposed amendments.

the system should be people friendly. and common man can approach and get the certificates easily if thry have the sufficient details and proofs

apart from the modification , it's very important that government set up to birth and death certificate available to the people without any bribe. In many cities the officier demand bribe if they have proper documents and proofs..

Yes needs some modifications.Birth and death certificate should be on online and within a week , should be digitise, Adhar card link of father and mother, Father name should be at the time of registration.Helpline number and a special squad for offenders.
