Registration of Births and Deaths in India is mandatory with the enactment of Registration of Births and Deaths (RBD), Act 1969 and is done as per the place of occurrence of the event. With a view to simplify the provisions of various sections of the existing RBD Act, 1969 and to make it people friendly, the Government of India has proposed to amend the RBD Act, 1969.

Existing sections of the Act and amendments proposed by the Office of the Registrar General, India (ORGI) are indicated in the first two columns of the proposal respectively.
Ministry of Home Affairs seeks feedback and suggestions along with the justification for the proposed amendments.

The Registration of Births and Deaths (Amendment) Bill, 2012 was introduced in Raja Sabha on May 7, 2012 by Mr. Salman Khurshid, Minister of Law and Justice. The Bill has been referred to the Standing Committee on Personnel, Public Grievances, Law and Justice on May 9, 2012.

Late registration of births and deaths should be simplified should be done on self declared affidavit, as in tribal and rural areas because of illiteracy or ignorance millions have not registered births or especially deaths which occurred say 30 / 40 yrs back now mutation is required where the registration of property is not done due to lack of death certificate . Self declaration is ok ,if there is falsehood it can be made punishable

so all the people who are born or who are dead in-home or hospital or any other place he/she register themselves at that time. and it is also helpful for those people who didn't receive any benefits from the government.

In my view, it is good for people as well as for the nation because nowadays population is the major problem for our nation this step will be helpful to decrease this problem and also gave us a valid data of our population. some people are born at home or a village they are not registered of birth. another side some unclaimed people death is not registered as per our records or data. so, I request you to please make an online portal or online site for the registration of birth and death
