Lack of livelihood opportunities for tribal people is one of the chief causes of their backward status as compared with the other social groups. This issue is aggravated by the high rate of displacements faced by tribal people due to various industrial projects etc., which also causes loss of livelihood for them among other things. This Ministry has been taking various steps for facilitating sustainable livelihood for tribal populations in different sectors. Stress has been given on vocational education and formal technical education for tribal youth. States are being encouraged to take upskill development initiatives for tribal youth with at least 50% of such activities to be oriented for women.

Through MyGov, the Ministry of Tribal Affairs seeks suggestions/information from all sections of the society regarding various livelihood possibilities for tribal people, availability of skilled/unskilled manpower still unemployed, various traditional skills available with the tribal population, new trends and interests among tribal youth, corresponding skilling needs and possibilities etc.

first give control of local resources and local environment to tribals, they will find out their livelihood opportunities. it should not be done from paryavaran bhawan of lutyen delhi. what is the use of niti aayog, if it is also going the way of centralised policy making. please REMEMBER THE NEW LEFTIST-CENTRE PARTY OR THE NEW CONGRESS CALLED AAP HAS ARRIVED ON THE SCENE. LESSONS FROM SHAMEFUL DEFEAT OF BJP IN DELHI ELECTIONS BE LEARNT OR ELSE AAP IS GOING TO MAKE THINGS DIFFICULT FOR BJP

Tribal people have their own art/creations/design of clothes. Arrange a week long trade fair in top 100 cities so that people can buy those products. Also government can provide them online platform for selling the goods. Will help in Tribal Economic Development. Thanks

The tribal region of our country is blessed with its unique tradition and culture. The region has its own scenic beauty. Tourism can truly be a great boon for the tribal people as it can add a great amount to their livelihood. One such example is Asia's cleanest village Mawlynnong in the state of Meghalaya. It has attracted a large number of tourist from the world to showcase its clean and green beauty. Many such places are unexplored and can generate ample opportunities as tourist hubs.
