Dear Citizens of Rajkot, ...

Dear Citizens of Rajkot,

The Rajkot Municipal Corporation (RMC) is all set to re-invigorate the Smart City proposal preparation process as part of Round II of the Smart City Mission. The City missed the first list by a whisker and is poised to ensure success this time around. RMC is currently working closely with the citizens to strengthen its smart city proposal. The participation of citizens is absolutely crucial in ensuring the success of our city.

We request you for your suggestion and inputs for improvement of our city’s proposal submitted in the Round I. Your views on smart solutions and city priorities would help us to further innovate and strengthen the proposal for the Round II. Kindly give suggestions for improvement of services within the city with focus on physical and social infrastructure plans. The Broad spectrum of service areas is provided below:

• Adequate water supply including waste water recycling and storm water reuse,
• Assured electricity supply including solar power,
• Sanitation, including solid waste management,
• Efficient urban mobility and public transport,
• Affordable Housing, especially for poor,
• Robust IT connectivity and digitalization,
• Good Governance, especially e-Governance and citizen participation,
• Sustainable environment,
• Ensuring safety of citizens, especially women and elderly, and
• Health and Education

Except for the old racecourse area, the city doesnot have much of a congregation space. A park in every ward should be implemented across the next 5 year period

Traffic and vehicular pollution is high in the city. You see the effects of these on the health of normal citizens. Promote public transport and mass transit and provide last mile connectivity.

Water scarcity is a critical issue in the city. 20 minutes of water is received everyday. the greenfield project should come up with workable models for water reduce and reuse

The Greenfield area is an ideal location for supporting future growth in the city. However, the city should also look at strengthening the core areas in the city especially in and around the Aji river area

In order to make Rajkot a Smart City we nust follow up some principles like maintaining proper cleanliness and avoid throwing of waste on roads. Traffic congestion on roads should be less so placing traffic signals and following it helps a lot. Proper drainage on side of roads should be provided to reduce water gathering on roads.
