In spite of providing facility for free immunization to the pregnant mothers, only 32.4% of ST mothers (lowest among all social groups) received advice about where to go if they experienced pregnancy complications.
1) What could be the reasons attributing to it?
2) What interventions would be required to achieve 100% coverage of immunisation of pregnant mothers amongst tribals?
3) What can be the role of various Ministries, agencies (of Government and Non-government) to achieve 100% coverage of immunisation.

We solicit some sharing of experiences and suggestions on the subject.

More details on the subject can be found here.

Time engulfed the typical methods for improvements of child and maternal health care like counselling. Asha Prakalp or other schemes in this regard had not been very much fruitful. Now government can set up rural hospitals in each block in the backward districts and can appoint trained nurses who can go to every house to immunize them with preliminary vaccines. Do not counsel the patients but counsel the nurses & doctors first because they seem it penalty if they get a posting in backward dists.

Being a medicine student, I feel lack of knowledge about antinatal care among tribal women is the main reason . Our health workers are trying to reach out for them and educating . I saw some cases when there is complicated pregnancy , they prefer their unacceptable customs and even try to get aborted in last trimester which is dangerous to both mother and foetus .

अनुसूचित जनजातियों को आत्मनिर्भर बनाने के लिए अनवरत प्रयास करना होगा। उनकी मूलभूत आवश्यकताओं की पूर्ति करना सरकार का प्रथम दायित्व है।

Please make medical availing even at foest area. For that purpose please deploy even ayush doctors also and give proper allopathic training to them. And give nutritious food from government kitchen dirctly to them like ration. Don't give multy vitamin capsules directly to hand of tribal people. They don't know about capsules. So give nutritional food directly.

I say the reason behind the low success is lack of awareness.it can be achieved with the help of educated youth from the peryicular village.like kisan mitra we can produce facility center with the post.online connection to all village and broadcast of policy through the center.it will cost but not so much which we spend through the government links.the valuable amounts will be monitored through net banking. Jai ho India. Aage badho hum saath hai.

I guess the only reason could be non delivery of message about quality ANC to tribals. I must say that Anganwadi workers are working tremendously but still the force is less. For such tribes visiting PHC is kind of not compulsory but optional. They might not visit PHC but they have to visit local store to get food items like oil, salt, grain etc and that is too daily. For suggestions please see the pdf file. As this box has character restriction.

How about we educate people and make them realise the true value of their life for their future life (child/ new generation) and make them shout for inconvenience they r facing in maintaining their health conditions with respect to illness and pregnancies. We have many employed people to do this job and they r employed for only reason but do we have monitoring grops/personals? Creating new idias might be good but preserving old ideas and making then strong is best.

One reason for the Lack of facilities for tribals is absence or nominal presence of medical facilities or doctor in area.. This is because no one wants to work in tribal area aait does not serves gud earnings.. Either it should be made mandatory for government medical students to practise atleast a year there.. Private students can be directed there by offering thm a fee relaxation if thy agree to work in tribal areas..

Sir first of all we should reach out to the tribal people effectively...giving them some kind of benifits or some bonus ammount for regular checkup will also serve the purpose...increase the no. of doctors in tribal areas...and keep the mother under total healthcare control from d begining of her pregnancy will do the trick :)
