The electronics waste (e-waste) comprises of discarded electrical and electronic equipment, and poses serious challenges globally for improper disposal practices especially in informal sector.

Hon’ble PM has emphasized the need for creating awareness for environmental issues under “Swach Digital Bharat’ during his address at NASSCOM event on 01.03.2015. On the direction of Hon’ble PM, MeitY has initiated the “Awareness Programme on Environmental Hazards of Electronic Waste through Digital India Initiative” over a period of five years to create awareness among the public about the hazards of e-waste recycling by the informal sector and educate them about alternate methods of disposing their e-waste.

Over 95 per cent of e-waste generated is managed by the informal sector. Integration of the informal sector and access to environmentally safe recycling technologies may reduce the health and environmental hazards. In addition to technology, capacity building, skill management, scientific recycling mechanism, business management training are also required for safe recycling of e-waste.

In this context, MeitY is inviting citizen inputs to provide solution for leakage of E-Waste in the informal sector, and suggest proper recycling technology for E-Waste that is economically available.

The last date of submission of suggestions is 4th April, 2018.

For any further information about E-Waste, please visit the GREENE website.

Everywhere you look you see pieces of circuit boards, televisions, refrigerators, irons, etc. The toxic chemicals released are spread throughout the area when it rains and of course spread to the homes each evening. What especially troubled me was the path of the toxic smoke that floats right into the food market. I will not suggest to just bury the waste but to recycle it in a way that every part of the e-waste is used in some industry and it must be properly organised which waste goes where

Proper waste disposal is critical due to the fact that certain types of wastes can be hazardous and can contaminate the environment if not handled properly. These types of waste also have the potential to cause disease or get into water supplies. There are rules and regulations in place for how specific types of waste should be disposed of. Following them allows for toxic waste to be safely discarded without the risk of environmental contamination.

In first stage of Ewaste managment we need to stop useing & manufacturing of those product which is sell in a mkt at cheap rate and for that they use very low catagory material. By this we can minimised non reclycle product like headphones low cost phones. Ect.

We can create an online portal for that "where the user can register and will be able to give all his e-waste by using his own address. After collecting from the users we can send to one place "Centre of e-waste" (which has to be in every state), then we can hire some Installation Artists from India (or maybe from Foreign) to create beautiful Installations for Malls, Government offices, Parks, Dividers between roads, Chowk (The Junction of four roads dividing each other).

Hello, every one this is very important point of discussion, as E-waste is actually a big domain which needs to be solved as it is polluting land, water, and its effects to humans are very severe, as seen in Outer Delhi which is perfect example. So it is required that government take steps to collect these scrap and find a way that can give job to many and to reduce the expense by selling the metals like copper and gold collected from PCB, various motors, iron material and decompose plastic.
