The electronics waste (e-waste) comprises of discarded electrical and electronic equipment, and poses serious challenges globally for improper disposal practices especially in informal sector.

Hon’ble PM has emphasized the need for creating awareness for environmental issues under “Swach Digital Bharat’ during his address at NASSCOM event on 01.03.2015. On the direction of Hon’ble PM, MeitY has initiated the “Awareness Programme on Environmental Hazards of Electronic Waste through Digital India Initiative” over a period of five years to create awareness among the public about the hazards of e-waste recycling by the informal sector and educate them about alternate methods of disposing their e-waste.

Over 95 per cent of e-waste generated is managed by the informal sector. Integration of the informal sector and access to environmentally safe recycling technologies may reduce the health and environmental hazards. In addition to technology, capacity building, skill management, scientific recycling mechanism, business management training are also required for safe recycling of e-waste.

In this context, MeitY is inviting citizen inputs to provide solution for leakage of E-Waste in the informal sector, and suggest proper recycling technology for E-Waste that is economically available.

The last date of submission of suggestions is 4th April, 2018.

For any further information about E-Waste, please visit the GREENE website.

The best idea would be to challenge students to build innovative products with some prize money. This will not only help build innovative projects like building cubesats, idea to carry water into space, use old electronics to build new products, transportation in hilly areas, building analytics platform using various sensors in used phones.

waste is certainly be created and definitely recycled or treated but can't we use and promote bio degradable things ..what I have observed that even in government hospitals the normal sanitary napkins are used and disposal is by means if putting in separately taged dustbin ...but the question is where does that dustbin empty and treated .. instead it should be made complusory to use biodegradable napkins and the napkins destroyers be made complusory.and government should be exemplary first

We should develop a new industry for handling e-waste. We need to set up a recycling plant in each districts of the states. This will bring the awareness in people of rural and urban areas of developing states as well as in under developing states. Just like Municipal corporation, there should be "An e-waste corporation".It will be responsible for their area. This will create an awareness on ground level and the employment also. We have the technology and the will to be on the top of this world.

Dear Team #MyGov For #SwachhBharat all world should accept @PMO Formula #6R which is applicable for E-Waste . some part of metallic, Non Metal , Chemical from E-west Re-cycle must reused ; all other Hazards useless west should be thrown at #JhariaFire coal field like and closed coal field. All coal carrier empty Trucks , Train Vegans can be used for load and dump during their return Travel; it can help to reduce cost of coal transportation After all E-devices

In small towns and cities where employment and implementation of any programme for socio-econimic growth is a big challenge , Under swachh bharat scheme those cities should be identified .the next step is to estimate the waste generation , the potential of the waste for various purposes like energy generation ,fuel , compost , recyclable material production etc.The main Objective of my proposal is that to identify the skilled peoples and engage them in the entire waste management process.

At the E-waste handling centers, if the battery and other chemical stuff that are dangerous are removed before hand, then the plastics and the metals can be separated by varying the melting temperature in a furnace. But the energy required for these procedures in any E-waste units have to be mostly from renewable sources of energy (acquired in simplest manners) in a mix with conventional source otherwise the recycled products won't be cost effective.
