Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will share his ‘Mann Ki Baat’ with the farmers of India on 22nd March 2015.

The Prime Minister is very keen to interact with his farmer sisters and brothers across India and would also like to hear their thoughts, ideas and insights on a wide range of issues relating to agriculture. He has requested farmers across India to write to him and send letters to ‘Mann Ki Baat, Akashvani, Sansad Marg, Delhi – 110001’. Some farmers can ask the Prime Minister their question directly during the episode.

MyGov also gives you all this wonderful opportunity to contribute through ideas and inputs for the ‘Mann Ki Baat’ episode with India’s hardworking farmers.

The PM has repeatedly said that India cannot progress until the farmers of the Nation progress and has assured that the Centre will leave no stone unturned in ensuring the agricultural progress of India.

Sirji, Though I'm not a farmer, my father was actively associated with agriculture & rice field farming. More over, I was brought up in a down town area surrounded by agriculturists, farmers & was fortunate enough to see their farming life very closely. All I could say, JAWAAN or KISAAN, both are JAAN of our NATION & It's bounden duty of every citizen to keep farmers' spirit alive & mainly do all that's needed to protect their 'JAAN'-or'LIFELINE' of our NATION! AB YE SANKALP HUM SAB KAREN!

One more idea is to create agricultural service corps, kind of like IAS, out of the graduates who study agriculture and related areas ONLY... employ them in each rural district, make them directly responsible for directly interacting with farmers, educating them, providing agri credit facility, fertilizer sourcing , improving farmer's condition, report of productivity etc.

Problem: Lack of hope; Sir, Please promise farmers that we (government) is coming in big way with technology, expertise, experience and resources to help you (farmers) in all possible ways. We will make their lives easy, interesting, fulfilling, respectable and successful… Encourage them to be ready to change the way they are working, learn new ways of farming like - greenhouse, soilless farming(hydroponics), phased cropping, Selective harvesting, No tilt, cover farming etc.

Statistics of big farm owners irrigated vs nonirrigated / small farm owners irrigated vs non irrigated / farm workers without land from each district / taluka must be released to strategise policy. One size does not fit all.

Small farmers should be given health insurance scheme for children. Many occupational hazards such as snake bite, scorpion sting, infectious diseases must be covered. Small farmers should have a second source of income near village..for which if land acquisition bill passed PM must take responsibility personally to compensate. "Land bill is a double edged weapon!" Can be used well or even misused/abused. Hope for the BEST.

My #Mannkibaat, If the #farmers land is taken for industry, tech parks the big issue is that they not only lose their livelihood but also value of the land become's much higher once it is converted to industry & they don't profit from it! How about not buying the land with full cash, but adding them as shareholders of the new asset on that land - with some upfront cash, 1 job/family and special shareholder rights with value that is a percent of newly created asset value with dividend payout etc.
