Blood Bank in every village
This revolutionary endeavour described below is already undertaken by Prof. Dr. Madan Lal Chaudhury, of Nalhati (Birbhum), West Bengal,India. Ex. Prof.& HOD of Gynecology, Burdwan Medical College in his personal capacity so that no body of Nalhati, his birth place, dies due to non availability of blood or high Blood Pressure. The project can easily be undertaken and implemented by state or central government immediately as the tests itself cost little and infrastructure already exists.
Importance of knowing Blood Group and Rh Factor
Blood is an essential element of our body which carries nutrition, electrolytes, hormones, vitamins, antibiotics, heat, and oxygen to the tissues and eliminates waste products and carbon dioxide from our body so essential for life and to live long. We all know that human being possesses four groups of blood namely A, B, AB & O. which may be Rh +Ve or Rh –Ve. We also know that blood is normally produced in our body according to body’s need but extra blood supply to the body may be needed in some diseased condition like Thalassaemia, severe Anaemia etc. and urgently in case of profuse bleeding following accident, prolonged operation or postpartum haemorrhage in women etc., as a life saving measure. Blood Bank supplies blood after cross matching of donors and recipients blood as mismatched blood transfusion may result in death due to haemolysis, renal failure etc.
Blood is not manufactured. It is only available when somebody donates it. But it is also not uncommon that a person donates blood in blood donation camp yet he does not get it from blood bank when he is in need of that, be it due to shortage of the required blood or other causes. He is in great trouble and may loose his dear or near one due to non availability of blood, more so if it is a case of Rh –Ve one which is very rare group. The problem is even more for the Rh –Ve pregnant ladies as, apart from there own risk of non availability of such blood their new born may suffer and even die from Anaemia and Jaundice due to antigen antibody reaction. All these problems can be overcome if the blood group and Rh factor of people are known in a mass scale.
Importance of knowing Blood Pressure(BP)
High blood pressure or hypertension is another cause of high mortality in rural areas. It is called high when the BP is higher than 140 mm of hg systolic and diastolic higher than 90 mm of hg.It has been found that many village people till the age of 60 years had not his blood pressure checked up even for once and die suddenly or develop paralysis due to brain stroke. A person suffering from high blood pressure is liable to coronary artery disease, heart failure, brain stroke, peripheral vascular disease, kidney failure and retinopathy. In case of pregnant lady, even if she is not hypertensive, checkup of her BP is mandatory in every visit as in this conditions BP may get elevated any time causing complication and catastrophy. Hence the BP checkup of every person.
The Endeavour
Dr. M.L. Chauwdhury with his team of technicians and assistants reaches the villages of Nalhati, where people are gathered by the local organization, and performs group Rh tests and BP checkup free of cost. The camp is being carried out weekly on Sunday at present w.e.f. 09-11-2014 with a view to increase the frequency later on as only 100 to 150 persons can be tested in a day. A printed card wth result of the tests with name and address of the persons is handed over to each of them then and there. . Hypertensive people In the camp are advised lifestyle modifications like avoiding salty food, salted puffed rice, pickles, potatochips etc and by not adding salt to the food on the table, maintaining a healthy weight, eating lower calory foods, restricting fatty diet, quitting alcohol and smoking, For those needing drugs are advised to contact local doctors. A list of total blood tests with address and phone number is provided to the concerned organization within a month. The ultimate plan is to complete such tests in about 25thousand people at the first phase and publish a Blood Group Rh directory which will serve as Blood Bank In every village. Whenever blood is needed the directory will help to find out so many people ready to donate blood.
It is important to note that blood available from Blood Bank is preserved one, collected mostly from professional donors with low potency and likely not being tested to exclude all types of blood borne diseases The donor is also not identifiable. But in the present project the blood is fresh, from a healthy person with high potency. The blood donor is also known. A bond of love, amity and gratitude is bound to develop in this case between the donors and recipients and their families which will help to build a better society. From Govt. point of view crores of rupees will be saved in establishing and maintaining Blood Banks. Only a technician of the village health centre will be able to collect the blood and deliver it after cross matching of the donors and receipients blood and the Medical Officer of health centre may undertake the job of blood group Rh testing and BP checkup the way described above and CMOH of the district will publish the Blood Group Rh directory.
Dr. Chowdhury, a great follower of Swami Vivekananda, from his childhood, and our Honorable Prime Minister Modijee, since Modijee took part in a debate in Calcutta Club some 10 years back, being inspired by Modijee’s so many welfare programme particularly Jan Dhan yojna, self attestation, toilet in every house etc. has ventured initially at his own cost to carry out the project but he believes many welfare organization, medical fraternity and Government itself will come forward for funding such noble endeavour. Dr. Chaudhury will be glad to share his experience with whoever wishes to undertake this project to fulfill the aim of Modijee’s “Srestha Bharat”

Respected Prime Minister,
These days many cases of Rapes are observed in our country & age is no bar for the rapist. This should be stopped. I suggest that these rapist should be treated by the ancient British Rule, that if the rapist or the person who stalks any women should be punished in public by giving them lash punishment. If rules are very strict no one will dare to make such crime.Like "Ganga Swachh Abhyiaan" take a campaign for ''Crime Swachh Abhiyaan".

The pregnancy should be planned ,provide proper antenatal services ,increase the number of health personals , improve the health facilities ,adopt and utilise the measures for preventing diseases (vaccines),increase the number of dispensaries and health centres which are open round the clock . The staff in rural areas should be given high incentives ,compulsory posting of health personals in rural areas . Teach hygienic measures to the population at large as infections mainly cause deaths .

The deaths in children can be checked by improving the basic health facilities in our country . In India the doctor patient ratio is very low as compared to the developed countries where this ratio is high . The number of doctors should increase in our country and such policies are to be made that the doctors reach the rural areas instead of being confined to the urban areas .The paramedical staff should also be proportionately increased and basic health facilities should be provided at all time
